Hi, I have been a member here before but real life got busy and I quite. I hope to stay here a while this time. My question is how important is a player's intelligence? I know I want a smart QB,LB and CB. But how important is it for the o line and d line? It seems I have inherited a team of half wits. Do running backs with a higher IQ make better decisions when choosing where to run? Thanks for any input.

A player called Dumb asking about Intelligence

First, welcome back!

But this question is one of the great unsolved debates in the RZA community. As with all skills the higher the better but how important is it.

If you read jack6's guide you get what I feel is the consensus.

I for one believe it's not the most important skill and I value for example TW much more. However everyone seems to agree (I think) that QB needs to have INT of 50.

I would read the aforementioned guide and then tweak it according to your own preference or philosophy.

Disagree.

I would recommande sup 45 but having 50 is not a need, it's a bonus.

Globally INT is appreciated at every position. But a stupid player can perform if the other skills are good. You can not have perfect players everywhere anyway.

I don't know how much impact it has on RB (could be a lot or a little), but most people try to keep Intelligence high for any of the positions involved in interception math (QB, WR, TE, CB, LB).

Thanks for the insight, I have been reading up a little on Jack6's guide. looks to be some very good info there. I was in the Galaxy 1.1 league as San Antonio Armadillos, season 16 was my last seasons, so its been longer then I thought. My last three seasons I went 10-6, but only made the playoffs once in season 12 and then got beat in the playoff game. If I remember right I was starting to have way too high wages and was going to be in trouble in the next season. This time I am just going to try to build my team slowly and take advise and read through the guides and forums for info.

There are a few veteran players who try to encourage players to waste all their money on big purchases early on, but I think most players would agree that a slow build is a good strategy. Make sure to max out your stadium as quickly as possible.

Name and shame!

I don't see much of that type of behaviour to be honest - though there have been a few occasions that my regular advice of 'stadium 1st, nothing else, then when stadium is 100% look at YA and coaches' has been described as 'boring' by some, and that it's more fun to play the market. I stand by that strategy though - it works.

As always 'caveat emptor'.

I haven't seen too many encourage players before the stadium. But I have seen a few (who I won't name because Pete wouldn't like it) who have encouraged people to start wasting their cash on big purchases as soon as the stadium is completed.

I say this is a marathon, not a sprint. Just relax and have fun with it. I spent my first 10 seasons doing more role playing than anything else, and I put a bunch of stringent house rules on myself like not spending more than 500K on any player (and really not spend more than 50K for typical purchases). It was more fun for me to play that way, and as a nice side effect I had a ton of extra cash after 10 seasons. I've relaxed my house rules a bit, and could always go whole hog on the market if I really felt like it.

Moral of the story, have fun, play at your own pace, and ignore the haters who tell you that you have to be in Legends in 5 seasons in order to be "successful"

I have never seen a single manager tell anyone to "waste all their money on big purchases early on" and I've been reading this forum daily for 5.5 years.
