Hi everybody !

Making a playbook can be long and somehow annoying when you are on a mobile device (even on your PC), especially when you use some consistent settings and you have to repeat them depending on your scouting.

As example, I often use the same setting when I am sure my opponent will pass, and the same when he runs but lots of teams didn't use them in the same order so I have to switch manually the formations, preferences and blitz settings every line or made it by block and moves them after but in both way it can be very long.

So I suggest the creation of at least two memories next to the "set" button who allow us to do quick settings for defensive formations, preferences and blitz settings (not on the other settings as they define the situation).

Excellent suggestion. Anything that speeds up playbook adjustments is welcome.

Hm, I don't get the "two memories" next to each rule...how would it work? Blame my English...

I know Bro for about 20 years and I practiced him enough to be able to translate.

Let's say after studying your opponent playbook, you identified that on 1&10 he only plays Shotgun 4WR (the guy probably plays in Elite as it seams that is the only formation played there :baeh but change Run to Pass Every 3 minutes.

Now let's say you want to counter this with Dime 50% blitz on the pass and 52 on the run. But as they are risky formations, on pass you secure with a 434 run formation and on Run with a 434 pass formation in case the basterd decides to change evrything just for you.

TO manage your playbook you have two options:

Option 1
You deal with all the passing situation first. So you set the down, yard to st down, offense, defense, preference, blitz and then the time (Any, 12:00, 9:00...).
Then you do the same with the Run.
Finaly you reorder everything based on the time parameter.

Option 2
You deal with each time situation so you do not have to reorder:
- Any time, Dime, 434, pass, blitz 50%
- 12:00, 434, 52, run, blitz 0%
- 9:00, Dime, 434, pass, blitz 50%
- 6:00, 434, 52, run, blitz 0%

I personaly use option 2, which is a pain in the *ss but limits the risks of mistakes due to bad reordering.

In Bro proposal, the idea would be to save in your playbook 2 default situations so you can preset easyly a pass defense and a run defense. Then you just have to adjust one parameter instead of 5 (in the example: time, pass def, run def, preference and blitz%).

And then what would be even better is if in those presets you could pick: "add to the top" or "add to the bottom" of the playbook.

I have no idea how difficult this would be, but I agree with Bro that it would be a great improvement.

Fincyril, official translator since 1998.

Yep, the idea is to have at least two "use pass formation", "use rush formation", "prefer", "Blitz LB %" and "Blitz SF %" presets who allow us to be faster in our playbook management and made the scouting process more interesting.

I find fun the scouting part but translate it in a PB is not always easy but in a bad way. It's like you need to push two or three buttons on your controller to perform a basic jump in Super Mario.

After, it dépends of your objectives for RZA but right now the playbook features (who is the main reason Fincyril, me and some friends play your game) is a little harsh for less "nerdy" people who aren't used to tools like Excel. The interface needs to be more user-friendly as the mechanics need to stay the same.

For the moment, I have no idea what I have to do. It sound at least as it would be incompatible with the current way of handling playbook directives during game time. But I did not get all the translated stuff, so maybe there is more into it than I understand right now

But you can also deactivate a rule and activate it when you want to use it. It's the last icon on the right of the rule.

So you can create a number of rules you can use for passes and rushes and (de)activate as required per game.

Couldn't you also create a playbook with these 2 rules, then create a new empty playbook and import the 2 rules as many times as you need, just changing the time on each line?

At least, I think that's what you mean you are trying to do.

wait, this is "only" about copying a rule? So you click on one rule of the playbook, and create another one, exactly having the same content, below to original rule? And then you change the new rule to whatever you like?

That's how I do it. If there are two interleaving rules. I just copy one a bunch of times. Then copy the other a bunch of times. Then interleave them manually.

It doesn't seem like too much hassle to me, but maybe that is just because its a 100X easier than it was before we had the "copy" ability

I do agree that playbook interface could still be more user friendly, but I'm also not completely grasping this particular idea.
