I've been playing both my QBs over the last 5 games. My QB1 is a top QB in every sense, my QB2 is a developmental project that might never work out.

The stats however show a different story:
Stats Amersfoort Alligators league games

My QB2 is matching QB1 if not outplaying him.

So a few things:
- the sample size is still low
- however I am playing Elite defenses who should the best defenses in RZA to take advantage of a bad QB
- The first 4 games I solely played QB1 so his stats might be a bit lower because of this

However this does raise a question: are we collectively overrating stats a QB should have? Of course higher is better but how is high is good enough is my question here.

Is QB1 always first in the depth chart? If he is, he is probably playing against superior defensive players.

As you said I think th sample is too small. Srill the difference is not so big. Your QB1 as a better ratio TD/play and sacks/play. He is behind of yard/play à INT/play however.

As Rock said, his position in the DC may explain it but that's hard to confirm.

As per your description, i am sure your qb1 is better than qb2 and I would not worry much about those stats. In the long eun playing qb1 should pay more. As i said on the Elite forum, sometimes the odds are with you and sometimes against. The random factor is important in RzA and may explain alone those stats on this small sample. One game at 80% for qb1 and one at 50% for qb2 and everything goes back to normal!

I'm convinced there is some sort of hidden 'form' rating. My starting DE is having a really bad season after putting in a career year last season.

That totally depends on fitness levels of all players and of fitness substitution settings of the opponent so I don't think this is a cause. Also at the end of a game both QBs are sometimes playing within the same drive.

Maybe try to play your QB1 against some low teams and your QB2 against some top teams and see what happens whit the stats. If QB2 is still the one with the better stats then he is the better one even if he has the lower skills

I can't just play 1 QB, at least not in Elite and because of this they play about same amount of snaps. I can try perhaps in some SC games...

Or put QB2 first in your DC when you play top teams and QB1 when you play low teams. Then you can see how QB2 is doing against first string D#
