So the moral hit topic comes back every season now. That in my opinion shows that something is not perfect in its calculation (sorry Pete ).

Also it is fair to say that losing a League PO game because of a SC moral loss is frustrating and maybe a little bit unfair.

Pete suggests to manage our roster to avoid this situation, ie playing back-ups in the SC to gives the priority in the League. That is imo not really possible as we do not have enough players to do so. A team should not be penalized by being qualified in 2 or 3 post season events.

But I agree that a team should be able to give the priority on a competition.

So I propose to add to the game a simple setting in which the manager can pick for each competition (League, CoC, SC):

- Prioritary
- Non Prioritary

If you decide a competition is not prioritary, the moral losses in this one would be less. Of course the downside would be the players would perform less as well during the whole competition, including the group round for the SC or the regular season for the league. The penalty could be similar with the gap of a MOTY.

If you decide prioritary, your team would play as it plays now and the moral loss would not change.

Important. I already hate the MOTY feature of the game. (Once again, sorry Pete ). So in my suggestion I volontarly do not propose a third level of priority like High, Medium and Low in which the high level would give a bonus.

In default mode, all the competitions would be prioritary.

Interesting thinking.

But, the decision to focus on a certain competition might come late in the season. As example, My SC shot was over after the division round, I missed the POs. That was the point to make a decision on focus full power for the league...

That's debatable. But I find it a little bit easy to have the option later. I really like the idea to decide the goals at the beginning of season. Then, sh*t can hit the fan and no go the way you planned.

Also if we do it later, it must be just before PO. Otherwise teams could set up the priority to low at the beginning of the season and then switch it to normal if big games are coming ahead (in the SC for example).

How about if we just reverse the days on which SC and League are played?

It seems to me that the SC is pretty much 'set in stone' at the beginning of the season. Each season I can accurately predict whether I will make the playoffs or not simply by looking at the other teams in the division. So far I have not been wrong.

As we move into SC playoffs the number of teams remaining declines every week.

So my point from all of the above is that the SC is less important than the league. Therefore, if we cannot have a change to morale loss (and I am still hoping we can) why not have League losses hitting the SC rather than the other way around? This might mean some of the 'better' teams in the SC might lose to a 'weaker' team because they have lost a game to a league opponent.

At present the 'better' teams can beat up a 'weaker' team in the SC and keep their morale buoyed up in the league. The other way around they at least have the possibility of losing some morale. This also gives the weaker teams a boost and a chance to go further in the SC.

A change of the days and gametypes would cause major workload, therefore no, sorry.

I'm for the setting of priority at the beginning of the season and I would go further. Only one competition can be set to "High" level.
This would give some more teams a shot to a PO in one of the competitions.
I don't think it is too hard to decide, because it's similar to the sponsors decision.

I don't want to be the guy who needs to explain this to a beginner

I am against any further percentages based on anything further clouding the game results.
A Football game should be heavily influenced by the skills of the players involved. Imo we are losing that more and more and put even more factors and percentages on top of the game.

Look at the QB stats from Elite that Cheesehead provided and than scout his backup QB. If someone like that would play in the NFL, he would be eaten alive from the opposing defenses.

I tend to agree with you. That is why I wrote in bold I am against any in-game bonus. The setting I propose allows to either not change anything, or make you play less well in exchange of a lower moral hit.
