The runts of the RZA litter have been deposed of and what's left are the 8 most vicious animals in this football jungle. They will nog go sudden death up against eachother and are facing of as follows:
Game 1: Wasteland Wolves - Shark End Sharks The Wasteland Wolves came out of the wolfpack group as the obvious alpha male. 3-0 and all of those victories were quite decisive. They have however only been up against there kin and will now go up against a whole new species. The Shark End Shark may have lost the 1 game in their group against the Eagles, but that loss came after they thoroughly dominated the rest of the poultry, and were alrerady certain to advance. This one will go down to the wire! Game 2: Styrian Bears - Berinsfield Hornets The Styrian Bears have been steamrolling through their group and look like their pretty much unstoppable. After Beating the Tigers into oblivion they will now face the Berinsfield Hornets. I really would not like to be a Hornet at this moment. They were completely annihalated by de Wadenbeissers in their last game and are now facing an animal that is basically impervious to insect stings. On top of that: can you imagine what those bears are going to do to them when they realise these guys don't have any honey? Game 3: Porri Wild Boars - Wilmersdorf Wadenbeisser I must admit I was quite surprised when I saw how efficiently the Wild Boars penetrated (hehe) the Armadillo defense. After suffering a big loss in their first game they now seem to be getting back on track just in time. They are however facing off against the Wadenbeisser. The Wilmersdorf team has been tearing through their group without holding back, resulting in an all too easy 3-0. On top of that, the German flying pests have been restricted to a diet of small insects in their group stage and the prospect of sucking the blood of those running pieces of wild bacon might motivate them to do the most ungodly things to those poor little Boars... Game 4: Lyon Eagles - AS Roma Wolves Completely dominating the sky and the water group, the Eagles seem to be 2/3's of the way to becoming our new animal king. Coming out of one of the toughest groups in this battle for supremacy is no small feat and these guys seem ready to go medieval on their upcoming opponents. This does not bode well for the Roman Wolves, because as we all know the Middle ages started when their empire started crumbling. Already coming out of the wolfpack group the Beta male, they will need to step up their game if they want to mount a serious challenge against the Eagles. Well, Eagles from Lyon, probable quick end. One stop in Elite wildcard, one stop in SC playoff and another two lost unofficial matches in history between our teams. But there is still hope that I can brake it.

A bit late with the post-match article, because I was out butchering turkeys. That being said we're down to our final 4 combatants!
Our first semi-final pits The Styrian Bears and Wilmersdorf Wadenbeissers against eachother. The Bears' only weakness may well be that they are a little bloated from their christmas dinner. Sure, hornets don't fill that well, but after the 87-0 massacre they endured, I'm pretty sure there were more than enough dead hornets to replace the stuffed turkey. The Wadenbeissers on the other hand seem revitalized after their bacony christmas treat, obliterating the Poor Boars 49-10. This early final has al the makings of becoming a classic and it's hard to tell which of these two teams will throw a final bid at the king of the jungle title! The second semi is a do-over from 2 weeks ago. The Lyon Eagles came out on top in that one and after digging their claws into the Roman Wolves, who put up a bit of a fight, they seem to have come out stronger than ever. The Shark End Sharks on the other end, had an even more difficult afternoon getting the smallest win in the quarters (17-13) against the Wasteland Wolves. This game might have a positive effect on the Sharks, as it showed they are now ready to use all 3 rows of their murderous teeth. The Eagles better be warned! |

Ouch - that Eagles v Sharks was a real war of attrition - 3 Punts, 1 Fumble, 1 Sack in the first quarter alone..... and only 1 TD all game.
My money's on the Eagles in the Final! |

Holly's team is a step above mine so I wouldn't bet too much money if I were you
That being said we've managed to upset WW a few times and we'll certainly try again I've also lost the last 7 Friendly Cup Finals I've played, including one against Holly |

Happy new year you filthy animals! We ended the previous one with two strong semifinals and we will start the new year with crowning out new King next Sunday.
Our first finalist are the Wilmersdorf Wadenbeissers. These little bloodsucking pests have been tearing through the opposition had an incredible showing against the Styrian Bears in the semi's. By half time the german six-legged pests were already up by 20. The only reason the margin didn't grow in the second half, was that they got bloated from all the Bear blood they gobbled down in the first half. So unless they get stopped in the finals 2018 will be the year we bow down to the almighty Stable Fly. Source: http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/URBAN/MEDICAL/Stomoxys_calcitrans01.jpg Does this mean there is no hope left for the animal kingdom? Not at all! After a carefull selection process we have determined that the last worthy opponent and claimant to the jungle throne is without a doubt the Lion Eagles. They have been unbeaten as well and managed to beat the sharks for a second time in the semi-finals. It wasn't pretty, but on the other hand eagles swooping down at enormous speeds and then digging their claws deep into their opponents skull seldom looks pretty. One things for sure, Our new overlord will have wings! Source: https://download.ams.birds.cornell.edu/api/v1/asset/24912671 |
