What if we organize a World Cup in which elected Managers would draft a team of players from their country and face in a Friendly Cup.
So this idea is not original at all as it exists already in TOG, and maybe it's been proposed already there. Also I have no idea how difficult (or even possible) it is to organize this. But seeing the All Stars game arriving make me think there is hope. So what would be the organization of such a World Cup? - 16 teams, based of the number of players (not managers) in game - a manager election per country and a new manager every year - a 55 players roster and eventualy a 12 coaches staff to draft So obviously some countries have more managers and therefore probably more great players than others. However it is the case in any IRL team sport. Yes the US would be the favorite, but that is the beauty of the challenge! Cherry on top of the cake, we could consider a prize money that would be divisided by as much as there are managers from the country. That's a motivation for the small countries! The periodicity of such a friendly cup would be to decide. Last edited on 2017-11-24 18:21:08 by Fincyril |

Wouldnt the USA manager have a big advantage over lets say a dutch or belgian manager because there are a lot more players from te usa then from the netherlands or belgium.

Honestly I like the idea of having a World Cup but imo the differences between RZA nations is just too great to make the competition competitive. What might be more competitive would be a cup by region, Fire All Stars, Sea Devils All Stars etc...

Still Ćwould like to see it by country. I am sure the US can be defeated. THe best Us managers have teams with players from all over the World. The gap may not be that big. Then PB and luck can make the difference. |

The World Cup in TOG is a nightmare. I was the first German HC when they enabled the feature, and a group of managers had to spend tons of time to scout players per position. The games itself were just pointless, since you as a HC did never get any grip to your team. This is, why a fellow Brit and me decided to stomp the half final (? cannot remember anymore) by using a Leatherleague rush only setup... World Cups in your terms of a World Cup do not work - since managers cannot participate in it in a funny way.

I think, and I don't want to speak for him, that Pete's issue with this would mostly be the lack of participation. If there are 150 US teams it means a US manager can play with the national team once every 150 seasons on average while a Russian manager would play every 5 seasons...
Another advantage I thought of if this happens by region is that the manager could be determined on the field, whoever wins the 1.1 region gets to manage the regional All Stars team the following season. It would guarantee a rotation of manager every season and give everyone an even chance to participate. |

Sorry for the slight hijack of the thread, Fincyril. What do you think of the Regional All Stars idea Pete? Is it worth trying to think of a way to get as many managers as possible involved or are you pretty much against the idea?
