I play mine at FS since it will allow for him to be on the field in every defensive formation except Goalline D which doesn't have safeties.

I remember seeing established coach saying they put their best SF as first string at both position so the player will play SS when possible and FS if there is no SS position because of thé formation called, so the player will play as close as the LOS as possible

Pesonally, since SS can't intercept passes, I just don't put the same kind of players at these positions

I would get my best SF to the Sam Safety Position since he is involved more often (mostly in the running game).

In the past 3 Seasons my SS have made 50+ tackles while the FS has made between 5 and 20 . (Iam playing alot of "basic" formation)

In my experience there is no real difference between SS and FS in RZA. They both need to be very fast as not to get burned by WRs running past them. Strength is not much of a factor as for a SS in the NFL who will often creep up to be almost a line backer.

So I also put my best SF at no.1 at both positions.

I'm not convinced speed means that much. My 50 SPD guys get burned by 35 SPD WRs all the time. I think positioning or intelligence might be more important.

I agree...I'm never sure with the defensive zones where exactly speed comes into the equation. Clearly the game engine doesn't compute the receivers exact position on the field based on Speed, but it must account for it some how. Just hard to say how much...

With QB and potential sackers, the influence of Speed is much more obvious.

I also actually consider strength to be pretty important for safeties, because they HAVE to make the tackle. The safeties are the last line of defense. If the safety misses the tackle, you get to watch the 20 speed TE waddle 90 yards for a TD.

Admittedly, I place a premium on speed, but I agree with you about strength. There is nothing worse after a game when you see some jabroni on the other team beat your SF for a long TD because he missed a tackle.

This is my experience:

If you have no SF coach, you will have missed tackles regardless of skill. I suffered from this a lot. I took a SF coach and got SF's with low STR (<40) and almost max SPD and result was NO missed tackles...ever!

EDIT: my guess is that the coach has much more effect than speed.
