I have a player who will retire unless I give him a nice bonus at the end of this season. Assuming I cave and pay, what does that mean for his future? Does he play just one more season? Or is it possible he has a change of heart and considers sticking around for several seasons?

As far as I experienced, after accepting the extension they will play for you the next season and then retire.
Jyst to be clear if he asked for money at the start of 28th season he will declare that he will retire at the end of 29th season Last edited on 2018-01-04 18:28:44 by Yashin |

He won't auto retire next season. He may play for longer. But the older they get the more likely they choose to retire.

I had a player who announced his retirement but changed his mind for a nice fat bonus. At the end of the season he again announced his retirement but offered to change his mind for another nice fat bonus.

I understood it that way:
Every season rollover there is a calculation in which a player with 30+ years can a) decide to play further b) decide to retire, but play further with a bonus c) decide to retire with each year more the likleyhood of b) and c) increases. There are is threat with age statistic collection, not sure anyone doing a summery. A player with a) will get to that decision again at the next rollover. A player with b) and no bonus will retire at next rollover A player with b) and a bonus will be handled as a) A player with c) will retire at next rollover. So that means once you did pay he is like he never throught about retiring and what comes next is just mathematics. |
