Admirals is a though division for smaller teams. Hang in there and draft some nice players in the draft. Also keep your eyes open for some nice free agents who make you better. Once the TC is up they will play better. And being patient is the key. Look at me, started halfway S25. Now I am 11-0 with 589 points scored and only 26 points allowed so far in the same division you are.

All I did was starting with only signing free agents with 3 star ratings to get me going, build my stadium to the max asap. And from there I started to build my team step by step, looking at what positions needed to be better. Of course I made mistakes along the way by overpaying for some players on the transfer market. And, with hindsight, my first draft wasnt very good, 2nd a little better, 3th ok and now I finally figured out how to really draft (at least I think I have).

All it takes is time and you will be fine.... (and that is the good thing about this game, its not plug and play and go to the bowl)

only one thing will never be perfect and that is your playbook

The beginning of RZA can be heavily demoralizing, but you have just started a long-term game.
To be competitive in 2.x leagues you have to wait for the second-third season of game. You need patience and strategy.
Imagine that if your best tacklers has TCK 18, your veteran opponents' skills can easily range form 35 to 50, so your safety is doing his best at his current situation.
After completing the stadium and with a full money bag you can start to make your team better and better.

Stay calm and keep coaching ... and ask for a mentor, they can give you some really useful hints.

Experience acts as a multiplier... he has 1/2 *
18 Tackling is still low
Speed, Strength, Agility, Vision, Positioning and Intelligence are all key skills on defense - they need more than just tackling.

Worry about physical skills (Strength and Speed) 1st, before concentrating on the others - a player's position in RZA is typically defined by 4 skills first and foremost, these are:
Intelligence
Teamwork
Strength
Speed

Only when those 4 are taken together should a coach decide what position to assign the player to, and thus what other skills to focus on.

You'd know all of this if you had been humble enough to accept a Mentor when you 1st started, rather than bulldozing in telling us you had years of coaching experience. That means jack here.

I have just scouted Jeff Davies and his Strength/Speed Skills are fine for the position, as are his Intelligence and Teamwork. It will take time to get his Tackling/Positioning/Vision/Agility up to acceptable levels though, and that Experience is a real worry - he'll need to be an 'every snap' player for 6-8 seasons for it to reach an adequate level - and that means special teams snaps, and even offensive snaps in games against Bot teams.

A bull once treading near a bog,
Displaced the entrails of a frog,
Who near his foot did trust them;
In fact, so great was the contusion,
And made of his inwards such confusion,
No art could re-adjust them.

It chanced that some who saw his fate,
Did to a friend the deed relate,
With croakings, groans, and hisses;
“The beast,” said they, “in size excell’d
All other beasts,”—their neighbour swell’d.
And ask’d, “As large as this is!”

“O! larger far than that,” said they,
“Do not attempt it, madam, pray;”
But still the frog distended,
And said, “I’ll burst, but I’ll exceed,”—
She tried, and burst herself indeed!
And so the matter ended.

***

Should you with pride innate and swell,
As did the frog: then who can tell!
Your sides may crack as has been shown,
And we with laughing crack our own.

Indeed. I got disappointed by the English version, but still, the spirit is there.
