Best part of the draft for me was seeing Ryan Shazier walk to the podium and make the Steelers pick.

Team do pick guys because many things, but most of all I guess hope.
I think it is clear that not every successful college QB became a successfull NFL QB and obviously there is no formular to predict such development.

I did depart of that 'Ha he will fail' and the 'Ha we are saved' dicussions long ago. Wait and see what will happen.

My expierence is, that there are a lot of factors which do lead to good QB productions or bad ones. Most of all the human factor, lead by the QB itself, the coaches, the agents, the media and the fans.

Interesting first round results, but this can only be judged after 5 to 10 seasons, so ...

True that. Look at Warner (undrafted) and TB12 (6th round i believe). I think nobody expected them to win a SB.

I know but we can't wait that long and there is nothing to talk about until September so we can chat shit about draft picks until then for something to do

Most fun part of the season

I wonder who the browns will pick with their 3 pick in the 2nd. I see Guice and Chubb are still on the board. I think they will pick one of the two, I'll put my money on Chubb.

And will S. Griffin's name be called tonight? I really hope so.

I like Guard Will Hernandez, CB Josh Jackson, Connor Williams at OT fills a real need. Obviously this is a deep RB class maybe wait to pull a trigger. rumours that they wanted the RB that Seattle took at 33. Not sure that would have been a good choice. Seachickens seem to have spent a lot of time reaching over last few drafts for players that didn't pan out.

I do think the Browns need to draft a RB, Hyde blows so hot and cold and hes banged up a lot. One of the most frustrating players we had in SF over r3cent years. He is clearly a talent but incredibly inconsistent with it.

I expect Griffen to get the call day 3. I also think he will be ST standout at the very least, a decent situational player who maybe just maybe due to his clear work ethic, determination i the face of adversity might just through sheer bloody desire and strength of character become a genuine star player. I would love the Niners to gamble on him in the 4th because he is the kind of character you want in a locker room.

Second favourite moment of the draft ... David Akers just proving that kickers are human too.

And why is that? The stats say otherwise (number 1 or 2 in all of the qb stats). Like Schrager said: if Mayfield would be 6ft4" there would be no discussion that he would go number 1

It's not about his height, but his character. He has shown a lack of discipline and professionalism on several occasions already, now he is a multi millionaire and is supposed to turn around the worst franchise in sports history (which will continue to to be REALLY bad in the next one to two seasons at least)? I highly doubt that, right now it seems more to me like he will be Johnny Manziel 2.0.

However, I won't be sad if I'm proven wrong, would be great to see him rise up to the challenge.

hmm I don't know if thats a fair comparison, just because Manziel is the new posterchild for QB busts. his problems with alcohol had been well documented in college already, the browns just chose to ignore that at the time.

yes, Baker ran from the police, which is stupid and not a mature decision, but thats not on the same level as manziels anger and domestic violence issues. TB12 smashed his cell phone when facing nfl investigation, is his character "not NFL ready" as well?

Baker is nothing like Manziel haha. A 2 time walk on heisman trophy winner who has not only the number 1 all time passer rating but also the number 2. This kid is a winner in every fiber of his body. He is so much better than manziel.

He needs to sort his footwork out. He needs to learn to play from the pocket when it's there . He needs to learn how to read a defense.

He isn't Johnny Manziel though. He was a drinker, a partner, he would skip practise, he got in a lot more trouble, he was a spoilt brat.

I think Mayfield will be a good player just not the best QB in the draft. But hey 1983 saw Elway, Kelly and Marino taken in it. Browns would be happy to take worst of them three.
Just so long as he isn't the Tony Eason or heaven forbid Todd Blackledge!!

Colts traded pick #140 and then Seattle took shakem griffin at #141.

Great to see him join his brother, but I would have like to see him in Indy too.

Wow. Browns s e l e c t Anthonio Callaway in the 4th...

Thats a big risk looking at this kids past but if he would have had a clean record he would probably be a first/second round talent.
