Although I do use the HR system I have to agree that it is somewhat tedious. What about a new staff post of HR Manager that would deal with x contracts at a time? To give an example:

The HR Manager function would be a button that you click next to each player. Let's say for the sale of argument that x = 10. You then s e l e c t up to 10 players to offer a new contract. You have the option to offer them all a one year or two year contract and a field to enter a %.

So let's say you offer 10 for 2 years at 95% of their asking price. You then get the result that some/all (=y) accepted or did not. Those that did not you can do further negotiations up to the current max of 5.

On a bit of a break from RZA but still have a look in to see what's going and its back to one of my favourite subjects

Ultimately Pete - its entirely up to you how you want your games to work but to a lot of people your stance makes it a less enjoyable game. For me

1. I don't really want to play a game where I am at a significant disadvantage to other teams
2. I don't really want to traipse through the admin grind

HR isn't the only offender. There's a stack of other admin that could be automated (Youth Academy , more intelligent training so you dont have to adjust the PC% element just have a If A < 98% then B etc).

Obviously resources are limited so if there isn't the capacity do this stuff then fair doos - if on the other hand, you would rather this stuff wasn't automated then its a bit of a strange attitude. Never heard of a programmer who actually wanted his application to be less user-friendly.

Maybe I'm just lazy but for me if I wanted to do some work, I'd clean the toilet or do my real life finances. Games are having fun.

Oh, this is all true. In terms of the HR department I left the basic plan long time ago, since I want to see all managers using the HR department if they are long enough in RZA active. However, I dislike forcing someone, so I found it would be cool to add more "advantage" to the HR department.

And holly is damn righht: I am still wondering why managers are not using the HR once their roster is going above 60% team strength

Have you ever started doing the contracts and thought - you know what I can't be arsed with this.

That's probably why - or maybe I have a lower boredom threshold than you.

I've never thought this, the length of contract changes depending on what your plans are, so for me it's intersting and another puzzle, but i'm also a nerd for this type of thing

also like the "tough business guy" approach, trying to lowball everyone a little to catch them on their lower end of their expectations, which usually leads to them furiously asking for even more while I have to raise my bids above levels I might have gotten them in the first place I negotiation day but the very best thing about it is the roster planning aspect, that should ideally inform so much of the rest we are doing

I like the HR manager now. I avoided it for several seasons but then Pete created the demo and i saw how easy it was and eventually the benefits there can be if you plan well.

I agree certain aspects of training could be automated as mentioned above, but development should also he a hands on thing even in an online game.

IMO Pete has created a monster of a game here which i wish i had found years earlier than i did. I agree nothing can be perfect but it is rich with detail which for me is a good thing.
