As usual I will go over divisional match ups first then the others, also in depth match reviews will appear now and then, but for now they are just short notes.

The AC East match up saw Wolflings first game back t this level face Knobsters playing their first game at this level. Wolflings never let the new boys into the game as they racked up an easy 55-0 win outgaining their opponents by over 400 yards and taking 2 interceptions. Probably an unfair first match for Knobsters playing a team that was in the Elite last season, lets hope their future games are not so one-sided.
AC South saw the top two from last season, Alligators and Xu Da, face off in the season opener which was a tightly fought game. The shining lights of the game were Xu Da's defense who took 5 interceptions and forced 2 safeties in this 32-31 win where their offense was left wanting. The Alligators OC is presently in surgery to repair his damaged scalp from pulling his hair out during the game as his offense was totally Jekyll and Hyde.
AC West also saw the top two from last season, Cougars and Cardinals, in a repeat of last season's opener, but not the same result this time as Cougars won this one 34-27 thanks mainly to a 17 point 4th quarter tally in a match where they outgained the Cardinals by over 200 yards, both teams gained 2 turnovers each, Cougars with 2 interceptions, Cardinals with 1 interception and a fumble recovery plus Cardinals won the sack race 8-5.
This was divisional match up week for the NC East as the Bolts put Pamplona to the sword 47-0 just by sheer force, gaining over 400 yards more, controlling nearly 70% of the clock and grinding nearly 300 yards on the ground. Pamplona's defense must have felt they faced the last 10 years bull runs in one afternoon.
Jinonice faced new boys Pinoys and are thankful for a series of big plays that won them the match they included a 68 yard TD pass, a 31 yard interception return TD, a 74 yard punt return TD and a 59 yard TD pass. The two teams yardage were similar and you have to wonder on the play intensity of Pinoys or the 42-10 Jinonice win might have been a totally different scoreline.
NC North saw the match up of the Whalers and the Frogs. The Whalers coming out on top with a game winning 8 yard TD pass with 27 seconds left on the clock. It must have soul destroying for the Frogs as they more than matched the Whalers during the game except for giving up 8 sacks. Whalers win 13-10.
The other divisional match up was in the NC South where Deflators faced the Patriots where during the game they utilised the ball when it was in their possession than the Patriots did to come out 30-3 winners. The Patriots have got to find a way to get into the end zone regularly when they have possession or they could struggle this season.
In the other games Whitings beat the Sharks 31-7 scoring, much like Deflators did in their game, when they had the ball and not letting their opponents get much when the ball was with them.
With a fiery volcano in the background Juggernaut went to Wild Thangs and held off a late charge to win 28-23. In doing so they look like they have found a bit of a ground game that was missing last season. Beware the Juggernaut!!
The Wolves faced returnees DragonTigers and even though they outgained them by over 300 yards they must thank the defense for the timely interceptions, 4 of them, which stopped DragonTigers doing better. DragonTigers, though losing the game 50-7, defense had 3 turnovers themselves of which 1 fumble return went 83 yards for their only score.
Hedgehogs faced Panthers and have to thank the Panthers kicker having a howler in the 1st half with 2 missed FG's and missing a PAT or the Panthers would be celebrating the win instead. Hedgehogs win 16-13.
Sultans went to the Machine and won because their defense, even though they gave up more yardage, prospered from the turnovers thy created, 3 interceptions all going for TD's and a fumble recovery going for a TD. As for the Machine you have to ask if the changes they are making are the right ones. Sultans win 34-6.
Llamas welcomed Knuckleheads and after a slow start their new look offense ground their opposition down gaining 300 yards on the ground as they came back from 10-0 down to win 62-17, 4 interceptions help cap off the 5 rushing Td's they had in the game. The Knuckleheads still have to find a way to cut down those interceptions.
Basterds totally demolished last season NC West winners Pirates 74-7 gaining nearly 400 yards more, getting 2 interceptions and scoring freely. Fijer must have wondered what happened to his players on the flight from Madrid to Salzburg.
The final game of the week saw Narann face the last of our new boys Whispers. They won 33-12, but it was an unconvincing win where their defense takes the plaudits with 3 interception return TD's and the OC wondering why his offense could not get into the end zone. If Whispers can cut down the turnovers they will be competitive in this league.

To close I will not be looking at the transfer market action this season, but am keeping accurate statistics for use throughout the season. However I will mention the continuing financial crisis at epics and the ongoing query of will Coach epikDurant return.

Until next time.
