I tried to evaluate FB Blocking Statistics.

I have selected all "not rushing" plays in which the offensive formation has a FB on the field and in which there were at least a Blitz and/ or a DL Pressure (DL breaks through the line) so the FB is supposed to try to block.

From Source Elite Playoff Games S28 (11 games)

(Oformation) (DL Pressure or Blitz) (FB Block Attempts) (Sacks on FB Blok Attempts) (Total Sacks) (FB Blocks Successful) (% Success)
Big I formation 13 11 0 0 11 84.62%
Flexbone 10 7 1 1 6 60.00%
Goalline O 35 24 1 1 23 65.71%
I-formation 30 19 1 3 18 60.00%
Shotgun 2 WR 285 285 18 18 267 93.68%
Shotgun 4 WR 248 248 15 15 233 93.95%
Wishbone 38 30 4 6 26 68.42%

Source Friendly Cup Power Mode (vegan not invited or something) all games but the final.

(Oformation) (DL Pressure or Blitz) (FB Block Attempts) (Sacks on FB Blok Attempts) (Total Sacks) (FB Blocks Successful) (% Success)
Big I formation 53 42 1 2 41 77.36%
Flexbone 28 17 1 2 16 57.14%
Goalline O 6 6 0 0 6 100.00%
I-formation 82 61 1 4 60 73.17%
Shotgun 2 WR 218 218 12 12 206 94.50%
Shotgun 4 WR 276 276 13 13 263 95.29%
Wishbone 45 39 0 1 39 86.67%

I noticed that FB not always is able to try a block, this is valid for all formation but SG.
In SG he FB always blocks and with a very good successful rate, over 93%

I am not from USA and I am far away to be deep into football statistics, so I have no clue if this happens in real life.

waiting for feedbacks
regards
pj

I am new in RZA and I am simply trying to choose which formation to use.
I saw that SG is heavily used by Elite manager and I simply trying to understand why.
Have a good extra blocker could be a good think to consider.

So I am just asking If other manager can confirm this results.
SG formation: FB attempt to block a DL or Blitz 100% with a 93 % of success
Summing the data for all other formations: FB attempt to block a DL or Blitz 75% with a 72% of success.
And just for curiosity if anyone has this kind of statistics in real life.

As I told I am new in RZA so forgive me if this is not the purpose of this forum.

No problem, just did not understand what you were asking for.

Shotgun formations were a fine way to crush opponents defenses without any nee of deep thinking. This is why so many managers have used this formation so heavily. However, there were major changes in the engine making "shotgun all day long" tactics much risky.

How did you get the numbers? Especially (DL Pressure or Blitz) and (FB Block Attempts).

Did you go through the game ticker, line by line?

copy the play by play in an Excel table and use text functions like:

=WENN(ISTFEHLER(FINDEN("breaks through";BU91833));0;1)

if a pass rusher breaks through
and

=WENN(AU91832=1;TEIL(TEIL(BU91832;FINDEN("breaks through";BU91832)-35;35);FINDEN(",";TEIL(BU91832;FINDEN("breaks through";BU91832)-35;35))+2;26-FINDEN(",";TEIL(BU91832;FINDEN("breaks through";BU91832)-35;35)));"")

for the name of the pass rusher

to get the word in EN you take just this two letters away. But holly could make a Google sheet from it.

I thought that after a DL breaks through the lines or a LB/SF blitzes also when the QB pass is overthrown we cannot consider that the FB blocked successfully.
So here the adjourned statistics

Elite Playoff S28
(Oformation) (DL Pressure or Blitz) (FB Block Attempts) (Sacks on FB Blok Attempts) (Total Sacks) (Overthrown on FB Block Attempts) (FB Blocks Successful) (% Success)
Big I formation 13 11 0 0 1 10 76.92%
Flexbone 10 7 1 1 1 5 50.00%
Goalline O 35 24 1 1 3 20 57.14%
I-formation 30 19 1 3 4 14 46.67%
Shotgun 2 WR 285 285 18 18 30 237 83.16%
Shotgun 4 WR 248 248 15 15 34 199 80.24%
Wishbone 38 30 4 6 5 21 55.26%

Friendly cup Power Mode

(Oformation) (DL Pressure or Blitz) (FB Block Attempts) (Sacks on FB Blok Attempts) (Total Sacks) (Overthrown on FB Block Attempts) (FB Blocks Successful) (% Success)
Big I formation 53 42 1 2 5 36 67.92%
Flexbone 28 17 1 2 4 12 42.86%
Goalline O 6 6 0 0 3 3 50.00%
I-formation 82 61 1 4 5 55 67.07%
Shotgun 2 WR 218 218 12 12 37 169 77.52%
Shotgun 4 WR 276 276 13 13 38 225 81.52%
Wishbone 45 39 0 1 8 31 68.89%

Do you agree?

Now, if it were possible to download from the gamecenter for every game with one click a CSV file "comma/semicolon separated, decimal is dot/comma" containing the list of players on the field play by play (@ashlee: 3826 click on more and cut and paste are too much even form a crazy man like me ) would be possible to process the same statistics for a specific FB.
This because in the play by play log we know the name of the FB if he tries to block, but we do not have any information if he doesn't.

Wait...if I provide you the playbyplay per game via CSV, including the lineup per play, you want to go deeper? This can be done quite easily...
