they say the world cup really started today and I cant deny that, what a performance by spain and portugal! 3:3 is a perfect score too for such a masterclass in international soccer, if this game gets topped as the best in the tournament, we might be in for a good one
still would've liked to have Chile and Italy in the mix, would have made for a better competition over all. but still there are these exciting 2 squads (even after the HC fiasco in spain it seems), Brazil should be in form, Messi and Argentina have a lot to prove, France fields an insane starting 11 and have plenty of depth behind, Germany is Germany but also more vulnerable than some might realize... Belgium and Columbia have great talent too - I'm pretty hyped for this and even England: it might be too early this time around (FA wasted lots of time till they settled on Southgate and the current setup), but this is an interesting young team at least. I rooted for them since Euro '96, but even as an Austrian I can only take so many shitty tournament performances and go all in on them again until they show some spark Last edited on 2018-06-15 23:17:44 by Buddy Ryan |

I usually root for the Netherlands since Austria tends to never qualify ... so I have a bit of a problem this WC, still trying to figure out whom to cheer for.
But yeah, POR-ESP was an insane match, although first half of Marokko - Iran was maybe even better, but games without the big names hardly get the attention they deserve. I'm looking forward to see what the Socceroos will do today and if they (hopefully) can take some points from an overhyped (imo) France team. I think Peru - Denmark will be the top match today. |

The German coach had said: "2 goals would be enough".
South Korea have scored 2 goals and it's not enough. Something in the tactics was probably wrong. |
