A lot of members of our squad deserve much blame, but imo Neuer is not among them why didn't he do the same against Sweden then when Kroos spared further German blushes with a last minute winner? It was ridiculous - a crassly stupid decision. He had two defenders BEHIND him....at least he takes the halfway line and allows them to press on. But yes, all of Germany were shocking this WC. Neuer just summed up in those 90 seconds how un-Germany like they were - and sadly for you guys, that's what will be remembered. Thanks for it. |

whoever it turns out to be, england will be facing the weakest remaining team of the final four ... and I don't think it will be enough in the semis for them either way.

We're already gone way above initial expectations to reach this stage, anything more now is merely a bonus...
This WC has been so refreshing in terms of the English media and general expectation of the people - or rather the lack of it! We didn't expect to do well, and even though we are, there's still an air of genuine surprise. Southgate's honesty and genuine likeability is at the core of this. |

Southgate has done an exceptional job of bringing the team, media and nation together so that he was pretty much a winner no matter what happened.
Playing the likes of Pickford, Trippier and Maguire was something of a risk - but, on the back of looking to the future and giving them this invaluable experience - and all three have been exceptional - English fans have bought into it and have been rewarded with a trip to the last four and who knows what else. I have simply LOVED this World Cup in its entirety - and as much as i welcome the success of England even if it comes to a halt on Wednesday, i think this tournament has been the best for ages - histrionics of players apart, we have seen some amazing football, brilliant matches, jaw dropping goals and saves, drama in pretty much every game, and some moments that will go down in WC history. Russia have done a superb job in hosting this tournament and they deserve every credit. Croatia will be a huge test for England....i darent look past that but feel the true two form teams are in the other Semi Final and must be favourites...but who cares now...England are back. |
