I realised btw that adding injuries without a salary cap is just gonna give advantage to clubs with a large bank balance as they can afford depth in their squads to cover for injuries and it will really hit new players most.

So I am changing my vote to "Yes, add game ending injuries BUT first implement salary cap"

What would be an acceptable salary cap?

Without the cap though could it not get people to spend their money and decrease their bank balances?

The cap is from my point of view the spots on the roster.
Assuming you plan on a deeper bench, then the spendings will rise, which can become unhealthy quite quickly and everyone has to think twice whether to add that addition (likely good and expensive) player to the roster.

All this Angst against game-ending-injuries is unsubstantiated.

There is no angst, just a request for more options if we are going to be given more challenges.

As there is talk about a cap in this thread:

Imo, a cap would not change much, if any
The managers who now manage their teams close to their budget and get the most talent out their current budget, would get the best talent out of their capped budget, why should that change?

successful teams will earn more money than they do now as they cannot spent it on players and would use that extra cash to buy the best available players.

So probably the same guys who call now for a cap would then call for another change

If we really want more parity, we need to change the financial system.
The percentage of the budget from postseason games for a successfull team is huge.

I once made a sort of a proposal (but not an official suggestion) to change the wage system to the NFL's wage system.

in short:
Pay the yearly salary completely in the regular season
Give the players additional salary for each postseason game

This would limit the additional financial gain for successful teams (could be adjusted by the percentage the players get from postseason earnings) and save new managers from the trap of having to pay one month of extra salary with no regular match earnings.

I may put in a suggestion, when I have the time to do so.

I Agree.
The question is how to reduce this advantage.

Pete probably built this incentive on purpose to reward more successful managers, not sure why that needs to be changed. Those who win more than me make more money and those who win less than me make less, I really don't think there's anything wrong with that. More parity also means a greater luck factor, if I wanted to play a game based on luck I would buy lottery tickets.

sal-cap etc. not off-topic? Anyway, i second that. Why else (despite for fame) we should head for the playoff spots if not for getting $ bonus out of it. And remember the draft position PO teams gain (disadventage enough imo).

Back on track, guys. Think smart. If we get game-ending injuries (from which i suppose they wont harm that much as you are afraid of), we can produce more pressure on Pete afterwards on having 2nd and/or 3rd Stringer options in depth chart. One step after the other
