When is the next issue of Blowing Smoke coming out? Not sure to be honest, Noodle and I are irritatingly busy in that real life game. I do have a request to everyone though, doesn't just have to be Dragons: Please send questions to Noodle and/or I then we'll use the Q's & A's in a future Blowing Smoke episode. If you'd like your question to be anonymous just say and we'll omit your name, regardless of how rude the question is Questions can be about literally anything, doesn't just have to be about RZA or (American) football, to be honest i'm hoping for one or two really obscure ones |

Yeah, sorry I have been a bit out of sorts lately and haven't been on here that much. Work has been an absolute pig as well.

Noodle: Welcome back everyone, we have decided to do a Tight End special after the first quarter of the season.
3: Elisio Rich - Underachieving Steamrollers A good all round tight end, with an excellent catch to TD ratio of 2.25:1. Slightly lacking when it comes to blocking (11) and average yards per catch (12.1) which is why he cant break into the top 2. 2: Aleksej Fischer - PIT Steelers Amazing average yardage (18.2) and blocking ability (27 blocks). A 4:1 catch to TD ratio which is a good effort. A total of 191 receiving yards making an average of 38.2 per game with 0.6 TD per game. 1: Bálint Molnár - Óbudai Egyetem Despite this being his first season in Dragons 1, he is by far the #1 TE so far this season. God-like total yards of 412 in 4 games, giving an average of 103 yards per games, with a 1:1 ration of TD per game. 17.9 average yards from 23 catches and a decent blocker to boot with 24 blocks. Who wouldn't want him in their team? Jonny: Great Players, I agree it being Molnár's first season in D1 makes his achievements so far quite impressive. We gotta look at Tham-Boon Kohoutek in any conversation about top tight ends though. I know people will say it's easier for him as he's on a better team with Linstock, but he's put up similar numbers so far and he's been better at breaking tackles, this says a lot to me about his individual ability to affect his teams outcome. For this reason I think we also need to include Zarak Bird from Werewolves, there's obviously an argument his catch yards are low compared to the other top guys, but i'm going to put that down to their system and the fact he's sharing the load with Savio Lentz. Those guys make good use of their TE's and keep people guessing which one it's going too. Noodle: Yes very true, the top 2 are hard to break into but you are correct, Tham-Boon Kohoutek of Erudite Linstock should be there, I must have had one too many Jagerbombs before picking my number 2 and 3. So now you know my top 4 with Tham-Boon Kohoutek coming in at number 2 for me. He has decent yardage (281) from 41 catches and 4 TD giving a 10.25:1 catch to TD ratio which isn't bad for a TE but he can't be number one yet due to the stats that Bálint Molnár has put up over 1 game less! Perhaps Werewolves have the best TE stable. What do you think Jonny? Jonny: They do look good, it's also a great example of playing to your strengths, they use a good amount of Singleback Big and Big I formations and really make the most of their tight ends. It will be interesting to see if they can get them a bit more involved in blocking whether they'll put their offence over the top. You look at the top two rushing teams in D1, BSoD and Schulzencity Thunder, their TE's have between them 46 and 54 blocks respectively. Werewolves guys have great catching numbers but at 12 blocks between them they need to step up a bit. How're you feeling about your tight ends Noodle? I must admit I've always neglected mine a bit and think I'm probably missing opportunities here! Noodle: Well Jonny I have to admit that over the years I have had many compliments about my tight end *coughs*. Anyway, I've always used my TE's as complimentary, I try to be much more receiver focused and like you am probably missing some opportunities. I really should compare my TE's to my 3rd and 4th receiver and consider some tinkering in some of my O playbooks. The last 2 seasons has seen some long standing and reliable TE's retire from the Lions and the guys I have now are ok but still in development phase, though I expect big things from both of them. Jonny: I do keep meaning to check out teams with TE coaches and see how they're getting on, I just keep forgetting to do that So which position group shall we look at next time? Mix it up and go D? Noodle: Yes I reckon we can do that. Safeties? Cornerbacks? Wait and see. Jonny: Ah yes, make out our indecisiveness is actually a cool surprise for everyone else I'm looking forward to the punter's episode See ya soon everyone, hopefully you enjoyed this one, I know occasionally we do tend to... Drag on Oh and thanks to everyone who's sent in questions so far for the future episode, thanks Cheesehead |
