I do not think the both of us will ever agree on this. Yet, happy to make you laugh. That’s healthy.
But in your message it almost sounds like what you did was not tanking. I think I remember This game was the reason of my wrath at the time. And if the draft is not relevant in tanking, why losing games on purpose, battling with 2 other tanking managers that season and race for pick #1? Also saying tanking in pro sports is legit is just wrong. One among many examples would be last year statement of Adam Silver, NBA commish: “we have been careful to distinguish between efforts teams may make to rebuild their rosters, including through personnel changes over the course of several seasons, and circumstances in which players or coaches on the floor take steps to lose games. “The former can be a legitimate strategy to construct a successful team within the confines of league rules; the latter - - which we have not found and hope never to see in the NBA - - has no place in our game.” I share this position. His statement was made after Dallas franchise owner told his guys than loosing was the best solution. He got fines 600 000 usd. Also in the NBA the draft order is defined differently than in football in order the team get less advantage finishing last. That’s even more important considering the fewer rounds in heir draft and the smaller squad of players for each team. So of course, we are nothing like pro sport. Yet, even in a game, my opinion is still the same. Tanking is a selfish and non fair play strategy which I will lobby against until the end, even if it probably pointless.  |

This game was with a bot. It equates to a pro football team playing against the lingerie bowl winner and the pro team decided to let the ladies win. It's just good manners.

Yes, our entire French delegation has returned to Sea Devils.
BTW Cyril, this rebuild of the Spartans was started in Season 31 while in Elite and I sold off 90% of my squad. Season 32 I still managed to make the playoffs back in Sea Devils. |

Rebuilding is one thing, as long as the manager is genuinely developing young players for future success.
"Not trying" is a whole different issue. Tennis players have been fined for it, Jockeys banned, Snooker players banned. Cricketers have been banned. Footballers (soccer players to you Americans). Boxers pilloried for 'taking a dive'. Most of the 'not trying' is associated with gambling syndicates, thus there is a much darkier, seedier side - because in those sports there is nothing really to be gained by intentionally underperforming. It is considered to be unfair to the paying fans, who've bought tickets to see a sporting event. And those caught doing so are quite rightly made an example of... Bruce Grobelaar ended up bankrupt, Hansie Cronje banned from cricket for life, in 2012 a number of Badminton players were banned from the Olympics, and there have been many more instances. Yes, this is just an online game, but I'm with Cyril on this - I'll support whatever needs to be done to managers who intentionally lose games, especially easily winnable ones against bot teams, by using ridiculous matchday tactics. By all means rebuild, for many teams this is a necessary process as it is expensive to stay at the top, and often several big seasons will naturally be followed by a period of decline, but at least put up a fight while doing so. As for those who Punt on 1st down and throw games against Bot teams, I think the current system is FAR too lenient. Last edited on 2019-01-20 00:10:58 by JonnyP |

Glad to have you back, see you on the field Thanks mate. But a possible match up between us would not be interesting before a while. I am trying a RP approach of the game with only French players and very little investment from TM. I still miss some players in my roster but I will start playing seriously next season. However I do not think I will spend hours a week scouting my opponent like I used to do. |
