So I am curious to see the response this gets. When I look at other teams who go say, 13-3 or 14-2, I think "Wow, that is a really good team", but when I look at my team poised to finish 14-2, I think "Dang, I barely made it here, I have a lot of work to do to improve." Does anyone else have similar thoughts?

Well, the record is not always a good indicator for the strenght of the team.
The strength of schedule can mess that one up big time. A better measurement is eventually the Supercup, where the divisions are usually a bit better spread in terms of strength, but also that can be misleading. Overall, once you get into any playoffs, you get a better picture how you compare to other teams, regardless the competition. |

Does anyone else have similar thoughts? All the time. All. The. Time. A few disastrous stints in the Elite League made me that way. I'm still trying to figure out how to improve aspects of my team, especially on defense. |

I agree that record isn't everything, though I do believe in a 1.1 league or Elite, a 14-2 record is nothing short of a really good season. Strength of schedule does play into it, but I think it is extremely uncommon that a team finishes 14-2 without winning some really important games and doing well in general. Playoffs are a great measure for teams though, as only the best teams make it in, at least by the time the Divisional and Conference games are played. |

I can't help but look at my team now and be proud of a likely 14-2 record, but at the same time feel it could have been so much better. Especially considering a 1 point loss to Torchwood and a few games that I barely won, like my matches against the Hornets and Toralles Hardrock. Granted a win is a win and I am happy, I just feel like despite the perceived success, I could have done better. |
