Week 1 Headlines
Wasteland Wolves win on missed FG despite absentee owner
The Schrodingers Cats couldn't put away a leaderless Wasteland Wolves team in the season opener, and a pair of 4th Qtr mistakes paved the way for the Wolves' win, 37-34. The win is a big one in a matchup between two teams that were preseason favorites to win their division, but with Superpippo's conspicuous absence, the league is nervous it will be a repeat of S32 when GuiGui left his franchise in similar fashion. In this match, the Cats had the early beat on the Wolves going up as much as 27-10 in the 3rd Qtr and never trailed until midway into the 4th Qtr. The Wolves scored a TD to make it a one score game, 34-30, and on the very next play, CB Marcello Willis intercepted a pass and took it back for the go-ahead TD, 37-34. But this one wasn't over yet; with about 4 min remaining, Dolfin's team drove the ball 75 yards to the Wolves' 5 yard line. Instead of going for the win, the Cats' 22 yd FG attempt to force OT missed ending the game.

Sailors impressive in pivotal opener, 38-20
The road to the AC championship likely will go through the South Division, and the two teams likely to be at the top of the standings in that division are the Constanta Sailors and Marife-Lacion. The Sailors made an early statement going on the road and delivering a hay maker to hourt's team with a 38-20 win. Marinarul's defense came up with the big plays on defense coming up with 4 INTs and winning the turnover battle 4-1. The INTs only resulted in 10 points for the Sailors (including a pick-6 for his first score), but two of them also occurred deep in Sailor territory ending (with one occurring on the goalline) what likely would have been scoring drives. The two squads will meet again in the regular season, and very possibly a third time in the playoffs.

SD rookies walk away with week 1 wins against re-booted veterans
The Skalica Eagles and Bratislava Ravens kicked off their SD 1 careers in fashion beating The Alpin Ducks and Paris Rioters 2.0, respectively. Kenard's team let a victory slip away in the 4th Qtr, giving up 14 points as Jasny's Eagles won 20-15. His offense struggled to find much room against the Ducks' defense, but after gaining momentum after CB Valerian Cros's 30yd INT TD, the offense finally found the endzone on the next drive on a 67yd bomb from QB Prijezda Novak to TE Fabio Bortel. There was less drama in the Raven's win over the Rioters, 40-21. Morion's team jumped on top 17-0 in the 1st Qtr. The revitalized veteran Browka came back in the 2nd Qtr cutting the deficit to only 3pts, but the Rioters would get no closer as the Ravens ran away in the 4th Qtr to earn the win.

Sea Devils strong in Elite openers
OK, I'm not going to use this space to toot my own horn, but this will be a rare exception. But three Sea Devils start 1-0, and the only 0-1 team (Leeds Celtics) loss to another SD squad (Barmbek Cutbacks). For DCW and the Baltimore Ravens, it was two different paths to the start of their Elite careers. My Washingtonians clobbered the Black Dragons, 33-6, breaking a 3-3 tie with a 17pt 2nd qtr. PJ's team rallied in the final seconds to pull out a 23-21 win over fellow rookie, the BU Terriers. The Terriers missed a 41yd FG with 5 min left leaving the door open for the Ravens to put together a 69yd game-winning TD drive that ended with a 4yd TD pass from QB Uasilaa Vesikula to WR Joseph Salerno with 18 seconds remaining.

I would like to introduce everyone to the Spartans new QB for at least the next ten seasons. Takashi Okui, I believe his name if translated into English is Flash 52.5 speed Gordon.

Scouted him too. I guess he will lead the Spartans to one or some Elite championships in his hopefully long career.

I try to forget how much he cost.
I should call him Steve Austin the Six Million Dollar Man from the 1970's TV show. Based on the inflation we had at that time, who knows how much six million would equate to today.

When your team is again stuck in Elite NC East like the sword in the stone you will forget it for sure!
I cannot see so many King Arthur sticking around.

Here are my Matches of Day 2 :

Constanta Sailors vs. Rainbow Warriors
In week 1 the Sailors showed that they are one of the teams to beat or eventually even THE team to beat this season. 38-20 against Marife have been pretty impressive. Can Ashlee find the weaknesses of the Canadians ? He probably will put on a fight but I go with the likely win of marina's squad.

Constanta Sailors
Overall 84,1 !
Weekly wages Players $ 5,288,004
Avg Age Seniors: 26,6

Rainbow Warriors
Overall 72,2
Weekly wages Players $ 7,114,462
Avg Age Seniors: 26,7

Dalton Catamounts vs. Gdansk Redskins
The surprise of the week 1, in my eyes, was the huge win of the Redskins agains Polish routinier Naprzód Marsz! with 32:3. The Catamounts should be warned. I still have them down as a winner but this could be a tough battle.

Dalton Catamounts
Overall 79,3
Weekly wages Players $ 6,414,684
Avg Age Seniors: 26,4

Rainbow Warriors
Overall 69,7
Weekly wages Players $ 5,242,500
Avg Age Seniors: 26,1

Dortmund Griffins vs. Bautzen Greywolves
The battle for the NC West has a clear favourite in the former Elite team from Dortmund. But Bautzen is becoming stronger, ger by the season. Are they ready to score an upset ? Last season the Griffins won both matches.

Dortmund Griffins
Overall 76,2
Weekly wages Players $ 5,356,060
Avg Age Seniors: 26,2

Rainbow Warriors
Overall 68,8
Weekly wages Players $ 3,059,516
Avg Age Seniors: 26,1

And here the view of all the matches :

Bern Marcupilamis vs. Devon Warriors
Constanta Sailors vs. Rainbow Warriors
Dalton Catamounts vs. Gdansk Redskins
Dortmund Griffins vs. Bautzen Greywolves
Ewoks vs. Schrodingers Cats
Houston Pirates vs. Växjö Gladiators AFC
Idrosburghi Verona vs. New York Revolvers
Konjarnik HighTowers vs. Naprzód Marsz!
Littleton Red Devils vs. The Chicago Cubs
Marife-Lacion vs. La Spezia Sprugoleans
Munich Runners vs. The Alpin Ducks
NIGERIAN MAFIA vs. Kaunas Hurricane
Paris Rioters vs. The Beast
SH Cougars vs. Michigan State Spartans
Skalica Eagles vs. Philadelphia Phoenix
Wasteland Wolves vs. Bratislava Ravens

Superpipo may turn bot tomorrow. I remember Pete saying one day "old"managers can benefit a few extra days of inactivity. But except miracle, we will lose him this week.
