It would be very helpful if there was a way to test offensive plays against defensive plays.

My idea is to have a tool that allows us to pick a down and distance, s e l e c t a specific Off & Def play. Then have that scenario play out for 8 or 10 plays.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, but no. We provide you testing facilities by scrimmages, but that's it. Btw, I dont believe such a tool would deliver you anything useful. You would have to press the button several hundred times, and I really dislike to provide such a tool to the public.

Pete you shot this down pretty quickly so I've let it sit for awhile before I touched on it again. Let me try to better explain what exactly I was proposing.

My idea:
You would set 1 specific off play against 1 specific def play. Selecting down, distance to 1st down, etc (similar to how we test our playbooks). Or maybe it would always as a 1st and 10 situation.

You would then s e l e c t 11 specific players for both off & def.

Then that exact same scenario would play out over and over again (maybe 10 or 12 times). This should be a great tool for managers to:

Evaluate specific players, by swapping out different position players to see how each one did in that situation. This would also make it much easier to see how formations work against each other. This seams like it would be a great tool for new managers.

Pete I suspect you have a concern that I haven't considered. But I just wanted to better clarify, due to your comment "press the button several hundred times", I figured that I may of missed my point earlier. If it's out of the question, then so be it, and I'll drop the subject.

I would love have a tool like this too.
I am not Pete's lawyer...
But I think his point is that in order to have a correct result we would need tu run each test thousand of times.
10 or 20 runs is not enough to create a proper statistic.

my thinking was that it would be a great way (for example) to see which RB does better for 1st string & 2nd string analysts. 10 or 12 runs will give an indication as to which one performed better.

I got your point and I agree with you it would be an useful tool.
But I think that 10 tryes are really too low to have a statistic.

Imagine you are testing 2 RB in 3 & 1 situation using 4 offensive formations and running left right and center against 4 defensive fomations using the same 21 players on the field.
2 x 4 x 3 x 4 = 96 click.
In order to have a proper result i think each click should run at least 100 tries.
We are talking of about 9600 runs.

And that effort will create calculation time, which Peter will have to pay.
I think that's the reason why scrimmages are not for free.

It is not so much about calculation time. It is more about providing such a tool at all. I am not a fan of it, sorry. But hey, let's see if we get more opinions on it.

I can see only benefits from this feature being added to the game.
