Just curious, how do Euro elections work? Does each country have a single representative? Is it just European popular vote? Does Germany have the same clout as Luxembourg?

Haha, I guess there is no single person on earth who could explain it in full detail. Each country votes a share into the EU parliament, and shares are different per country.

This is key to understand it I think:

"While Europarties have the right to campaign EU-wide for the European elections, campaigns still take place through national election campaigns, advertising national delegates from national parties."

So even though they are European elections the campaigns are very often about local issues.

they are indeed alliances of national parties, not a true pan eu party.

To make it more correct: there are pan european alliances made out of national parties from different EU member states.
