The other forum topic - Restructuring the League - seems to have many arguments on many different strands. In this particular topic thread I would just like to get people's opinions on how the league could be restructured (if that is what we decide to do).

No other topic, please. Just 'how do you think the league could be restructured and/or do you like/dislike any of the proposals listed?'

Ok, here are my thoughts. Currently we have just under 350 teams (349 at my last count) which is basically sufficient for 12 divisions. We also have a desire to have more competitive games.

Plan:
League A - currently Elite
Leagues B, C - (Pre-Elite?)
Leagues D-K - currently 1
League L - currently 2

The bottom team in each division of A is relegated; the 4 semi-finalists in B and C are promoted.
The bottom team in each division of B is relegated and replaced by the bowl winners in D-G
The bottom team in each division of C is relegated and replaced by the bowl winners in H-K
The bottom team in each division of D-K is relegated and replaced by the top team in each division of L
New teams begin in L

(I hope my maths above are correct). This idea could be tinkered with to have promotion/relegation games between teams if people feel that is better.

We could more or less keep the existing leagues (but they could be renamed, if desired). Some leagues would need to be locked or hidden until needed.

To quickly ensure more competitive games teams would need to be swapped around. (We could leave Elite as it is but move all others). Alternatively it may work itself out over time. We could also have multiple 'beginners' leagues but these would be locked or hidden until needed.

Working out the maths for the coding is beyond me but Pete could probably devise a solution based on the present structure so that it works on 2,4,8 etc. Other leagues would be invisible - if you like the 'dark matter' of RZA.

I like your idea but think it's a very big change so not sure Pete would go with that. As an intermediary first step, kind of to see if this helps as intended I would like to see a new league level between the 8 division 1 leagues and Elite, it'd probably be best if it was 2 leagues so 64 teams (top 8 from each region).

I am for this change too,2 leagues of 32 teams between division 1 and Elite will be awesome, but we need Pete opinion before going in the details....

I think he made his opinion quite clear in the restucturing thread.
We Switch to the current Setup right this Season, so no Change in the near future.

I think we should keep this structure for a while. We need some time to see how it will work in the future.

But as an exercise of imagination I have a structure proposal: why we can not simply cut by half the number of regions? Actually, it may work as a merge of regions. The transition could be done by promoting 8 teams of each region to a New Elite. 4 teams of the same region will be on the same division of one conference and the other 4 on the same division of the other conference. The rest of the region divisions will be created by promotion and relegation expansion during the merge.

I do not know how to explain it better but if you have any questions I will try my best to explain it again (maybe drawing this).

The problem with the current structure is the giant gap between league 1 and Elite. We have 20 seasons of data to back this up and previous changes have not addressed this part of the game.

Didn't we switch at this rollover from Elite->1.1->2.1+2.2->3.1, 3.2, 3.3 + 3.4 to Elite -> 1 -> 2 -> 3 and so on?
Even if is was already 1 season ago, he still stated he doesn't want to change the structure so fast again. The biggest run with new teams always comes with the new NFL season, so my guess is, until al least Superbowl next season we have to stick with the current setup, so it can be observed, how the new structure works with the teams.
Of cause that does not solve the frustration of those managers asking for change right now, since those teams are mostly established teams and do have the problem regarding Elite and level 1, but as far as I know did Peter clearly state that he would rather close and start new than working in another structure change as it was often requested, like 1 pyramid or so.

This change would be great imo

Not a big fan of the idea of intermediate league, no matter the format.

What I like in the game is the fact we can stay with the same managers for a while and develop kind of a community. The Seadevil one is great and I enjoyed it way more than my time in Elite. The idea of being stuck for a while in an intermediate league does not look appealing to me.

The problem is not Elite is too hard. It is some league 1 not being competitive enough to guarantee any promoted team in Elite will be good enough.

Every seasons we have promoted teams that show than when you work well, you can compete. I reached the conference final on my first season. Dalton reached the wild card. Leeds went straight back to the conference. SVM was relegated but at 8-8. Barmbeck reached immediately the final. The Ravens got relegated at 10-6.

For Seadevil, only season 32 over the last 6 seasons was terrible for both promoted managers.

I am sure we can see the same trend on other leagues too.

I am convinced that we can make it work with the current structure if we can improve the level in league 1. Also let’s not fool ourself. Except for a few exceptions, I think all the competitive managers in Elite are great at building teams, but also great at building and adapting playbooks for each opponent.
