I am getting really frustrated about the dayform factor in the game engine.
Firstly it is totally intransparent and secondly I don't see any benefit for it.

There are already many luck factors / dice rolls in the calculations, why do we need to add another dimension of luck?

For me it doesn't make sense to scout an opponent and adjust the playbook to loose at the end by bad dayform against an opponent with less talent, who is using the same one-dimensional playbook every game.

I would vote to remove the dayform factor at all. An compromise may be to lower the effect and show the dayform in the gamecenter. This would at least help to evaluate better, if the loss may be driven by bad dayform or a back playbook.

What are your thoughts on this?

This game we love is not a mathematical equation. If the outcome of every football game was dependent only on the statistics, they wouldn't be betting on the games in Vegas.

The most prepared team is more able to cope and adapt to adverse luck. Taking away the random factors that go into any sport, is to remove the spirit of the game. For instance, my team has not suffered an injury all season. That's just dumb luck, but I still have players ready to step in if I lose someone to injury.

Prepare for the worst as best you can and build your team to have safety valves.

After my last two performances I'm going to be honest and open with everone and say yes. Don't shoot me down, my morale is already fragile

Atleast put a little line in the preview page with an hour to go which states how good/bad they are feeling so you can lower our expectations...

Your team is:-
Feeling frisky
Down in the dumps
High as a kite
Feeling demoralised
Spirited and confident
Arrogant and cocky
Ready to kick ass
Thinking they've won already
Ready to move on from the last game
Already looking to the next game
Feeling 110%

Off to bed now

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about the existence of Dayform, but I think it would be useful to have the Dayform of both teams revealed in the Game Stats. At least with knowledge of the Dayform, on such games when my roster ranking is better than my opponents and I've done a thorough scouting job, I can feel a bit better about my effort and accept the loss was affected by factors out of my control

A few seasons ago i was thinking in the same way as you .... i was seeing only random in the game engine ..... in the same time i was wondering myself why the same teams are always on top and the same teams are always winning the bowls ? .... should be something more than dayform and random in the game engine, right? ....
IMO the game engine does not need any changes at the moment cause is unpredictable enough to generate interesting plays, games and results. In the same time the game engine is predictable enough so the best overall teams+managers will win most of the time .....
I`m gonna easily vote NO on this one....
