When is it safe to move my YA players, when I'm waiting for my retiring players to vacate the required slots, to keep me under 70 players?

I'm not sure about the safe and under part but you will have to promote your 20 year old youth players before next saturday no matter what, or you will lose them. If it means you're over the 70 for one u p d a t e it's not that bad, i've done it before for necessary roster reasons, it's way better than losing your young players.

If you wait til Saturday (end of Season) your players will retire but your 20yo youth will go too. They have to be promoted before EOS.
Get rid of the old codgers now, there are no more important games for them to play and you will then have room to promote your youngsters. |

from a money point of view, release them directly after the bowl game but you hae to be able to look into the mirror after you axed the guys that just brought you a trophy  |

Just to add to what was said above, if you negotiate salaries, you have to promote and negotiate a contract for 20 y/o YA players before the end of Friday. If you have the auto-contracts, then you can wait until Saturday, I believe

the nfl teams release their players after the last game. we expect you to do the same here if you do not have enough spots for upcoming youngsters. But keep your desried hall of famers. Finish your action by friday night if you run the hr department. Finish your action by saturday night if you do not run the hr department.

If you promote now and are over 70 players you will get a warning on Wed update, but no fine. Sunday the retiring players will retire reducing your roster before the 2nd warning and fine. If you want to be safe, wait until after Wed u p d a t e to promote. You will not get a warning or a fine
