Croxley Crocs vs. Bautzen Greywolves

Croxley is a team to follow. They have been very active on the transfer market and built a decent team already. We can argue that he did not finish his stadium and might have financial issues someday, but for now he must not be underestimated. I still see Bautzen winning, but the game may be nice to follow.

Idrosburghi Verona vs. Devon Warriors

Already a capital game in SC South as Verona and Devon are the only team there. Despite an unimpressive win against the Revolvers bot, i still see Verona for the win.

Munich Runners vs. The Alpin Ducks

No, I am not saying the Ducks can win. Munich should even outclass my team easily. Yet it is still nice to see this game which was a real Classico few years ago.

Rainbow Warriors vs. Växjö Gladiators AFC

Game of the week. Ashlee tells everybody he has no chances this season. I reply « yeah right ». He is one of the best manager in the league and even without a star QB i see the Warriors in the conference final. The Gladiators are very impressive so far this season but Saturday will be their first loss

The Chicago Cubs vs. Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore is the obvious favorite. But I have a feeling this game will not be as easy as it could be. The charm city will win, but I see a 7 or less points gap.

I don’t know if I am looking forward to seeing the result of our match. While two seasons ago I felt like the US soccer team beating Thailand 13-0 and was embarrassed that my players did quite extravagant TD celebrations, last time we met it was just a single TD that divided us. If you continue to progress it will be a wry right match that might up in your favor.

Well played Buzi. My team did not give the change.

Let’s head up to Baltimore now.

Despite the huge difference in yardage the match was pretty open after the first half. What looked like an easy win after the early 10-0 lead, all of a sudden had me worried after the interception and the equalizer. Heading into the second half on a tie, my offense repeated their performance against Jonny’s Team from Wednesday. But you are definitely a force to reckon with in the seasons to come.

Weeks 2-3 Headlines

Game of the Week: Devon Warriors 31, Idrosburghi Verona 28
In the first installment of the NC South divisional rivalry, Devon and his Warriors prevailed 31-28 over Idrosburghi Verona. Sandrez struck first taking the opening drive 83 yards over 6 minutes to go up 7-0, a solid start. But Devon answered with almost as equally impressive drive to slow down Verona's momentum, but the drive stalled on the 6 yd line and the Warriors settled for a short FG. Verona looked like he was going to march back with a response, but Devon ended the 1st Qtr with a big defensive stand on a 3rd and 3 in his own territory. The offense rallied behind the defensive stop and put together a 90 yd, 7-minute TD drive to take his first lead, 10-7. The Verona offense seemed to struggle to find its groove on the next drive, but on a 3rd and 10, completed a 41 yd TD bomb to move back in front. But as his offense had all game, Devon took the ball on another long TD-scoring march to go back up 17-14 just before the end of the half. Devon kept it rolling to start the second half with yet a third consecutive long TD drive, and the Verona defense just seemed done for the day, falling behind 24-14. But the Italian offense was determined to keep the team alive, and cut the game back to 3-point deficit on the ensuing drive. Not surprisingly, Devon began another methodical march down field, but for a change, the Verona defense came up with a big sack on 2nd and goal from the 8 yd line. And then a missed chip-shot FG seemed to hint that maybe the tides were turning. But then the Devon defense stopped Verona and the special teams made up for the mistake with a long punt return to get Devon back in striking distance. Devon added another TD on that drive just to watch Verona do the same, making it 31-28. For the first time all game, the Verona defense got a quick stop of Devon and began his march for game-tying FG or winning TD. At midfield and facing a 3rd and 4 with about 4 min left, Devon LB Ben Koch came up with the game-winning play getting a huge sack causing Verona to punt it away, and he wouldn't get the ball back until only 2 seconds remained.

Teams of the Week: Munich Runners and Wasteland Wolves
That didn't take long. After losing his season opener, Superpippo righted the ship and is on a two-game winning streak after beating up on the Philadelphia Phoenix, 33-14, and The Beast, 44-23. This version of the Wasteland Wolves is in the earliest stages of a rebuild, but with a pass-heavy approach that is proving to be efficient, it doesn't seem like it will be a very painful rebuild. On the other end of the spectrum, Buziano laid down the hammer against a couple of playoff hopefuls lighting up Naprzód Marsz! 58-7 and escaping a sluggish first half to put away the Alpin Ducks, 37-13. The Munich Runners have been destroying teams all season so far, and don't look for that too change any time soon as this first 3-game stretch is arguably the hardest part of his schedule until he faces the Michigan State Spartans in Week 16.

What I learned this Week
The AC South should have a lot of interesting games. But first, the Rainbow Warriors "rebuild" isn't as extreme as Ashlee would like you to believe. Blowing out the Old England Redcoats 57-9 seemed like a veteran team giving a typical beat down to a new team, but then the Redcoats pushed Marife-Lacion to the limits this week in a 27-23 loss and were actually leading 16-13 going into the 4th qtr. Then the Warriors staked their claim to the division by knocking off the Växjö Gladiators AFC 27-19 using a 17-pt 4th qtr highlighted by two deep TD passes (65 yds and 83 yds) to escape with the win. The Redcoats will get a win at some point this season, but they still have a ways to go. Otherwise, the other three teams all have a legitimate shot to win the division.

The Croxley Crocs also are making an earlier name for themselves following up the Week 1 bot win with a 37-23 win over the Paris Rioters. The Rioters coughed up a 16-7 halftime lead watching AlexB's Crocs go wild in the second half to the tune of 30 points. Then in Week 3, the Crocs kept it interesting against NC West favorite Bautzen Greywolves in a 38-26 loss, that was as close as 31-23 with about 8 min left in the game.

Both West divisions are pretty weak (no offense).

No, better stay here ! Really great read. And thanks for the kind mentioning of my team. It is going well so far and the schedule is really easy this year.

Up in Elite today’s matches showed again why SeaDevils should have more teams there than the others. Marinas team just killed it. Jonny won and ptdoc lost by a tiny margin to the best team of RZA. So close !

I'm glad my early season smoke screen worked

No, I was surprised my work in progress QB turned up big time. 2 bombs in the last minutes to seal it. Those hours of watching Aaron Rodgers DVDs paid off.

Well Done PJ

The scenario of the game obviously leaves some regrets and I would love to know what would have been the result of the 4&5 on your 11 if my best OL did not leave the game he play before during this last drive.

Anyway, you led all the stats except on sacks today. The win is deserved and the best team won.
