Let’s be straight, I do not have answers, only questions.
But fact is the salaries are growing like crazy. During my time with the Goats, I witnessed only 1 team going over 10 millions salary. It turned bot soon after if I remember well. The second one was like 6 millions. Currently we have 5 teams over 10 and 40 over 6 millions. The economy changed over the last seasons with a transfer market way quieter than before. Yet will it be enough on the long term to compensate the salary? Also less spending on the TM also means less revenues from it and less possibilities to compensate losses. I also fear less and less teams will have the luxury to pledge on the media center, penalizing other managers who can. Rza is a management game. Money management is key and many managers will always be safe on an economical aspect. However the reality is that a lot of others are not so good at this and will go bankrupt. Is it fair? Maybe. Will it impact the number of players? I do not know. In order to play at the top in a near future, will we need to spend crazy on salaries for then a compulsory rebuilt? We will see. |

Nice. And yes, people will have to spend more money. I guess smart managers will plan a trophy run, and if the run fails they will quit, at least financially.
I do not see how this could be fixed. It just happens. After all, it is what happens in real life as well, when economical crisis happen. It is part of the chosen system |

i consider my salaries to be pretty low by comparison to some but for about 3 seasons now I have been trying to slim down my outgoings on salaries. This is difficult considering players who improve want more money. This is true to life.
I have also started to now try to cut down on coaches salaries too. I'm not sure how this will pan out. I like the realism of this game in that you can't just play for 1 season and then win everything cos that would be boring, but I am thinking the financial aspect is a little too difficult. The only improvements I would suggest at this moment in time is more detailed financial breakdowns to include league tickets, supercup tickets, champions cup tickets, media centre and fanshop income as seperate sections so we can better see where we are earning and where we are losing money. Media centre and fanshop should also be seperated on outgoings too. If the economy is a major part of this game, and i think it is, then we need to have as flexible breakdowns as possible. |

What if we have a salary cap based on league level? And the obligation to spend a certain amount of money on media center based on global rank? Those are ideas to make things more fair (economically speaking).

Is it about raising fairness, or about raising competition?

One is the consequence of the other... right?

It is more about keeping players active.
If you understand it well, the game is fair enough. But it is a complicated one and even if there is some randomness, I like to think the best managers are the one dominating it right now. I do not see any reason to change that. But if you are careless, with the current economic system your team will certainly crash. I also noticed that many teams suffers during season 3 or 4. They benefit for 2 seasons of a free mediacenter. They have money, spend it wrongly and all the sudden lack 2 millions income per week as they did not cash enough during those rookie years. The licence system is nice, but not enough imo to give a good learning curve of the game. I understand you want to let managers take their own decisions, but still imo they can buy players and coaches too early. The benefits of a fully built stadium is not clear enough. The risks of training only one or 2 skills not obvious. Hopefully many managers help rookies. We also have this great jack6 guide. But this guide is scary for the one who discovers the game. I believe a few tweaks in the game structure to accompany rookies a bit more would be beneficial. Prevent rookie mistakes linked to the finance by using the game system would let them learn more about it. Some will still drop out, but others may fall in love with it while they would have gave up immediately. Few months ago I also started to write a quizz for rookies. The idea was to ask them questions on the basics of the games, to propose it to you and eventually integrate it in the game. But I gave up as I struggled to find questions and answers that could not be challenged (ex: what is the main income revenue in the game? The obvious answer would be the stadium. But one could argue selling top players brings more money.). There is still something to dig there tho. I also like the rough idea of a salary cap. But how to implement it? Huge topic on many aspects, including coding I guess. |

Pete, I am not aiming anything immediate. The idea is for the long run (and may be implemented on lower divisions first). But I understand that many managers are claiming for changes with fast impact on RZA like leage (re)structure.
By the way, as the topic says, those are just thoughts and, as usual, I do not know how to implement. I know that giving ideas are easy but making them real is the real job. |
