I do not wish him to die from it, but I hope he will have big symptoms so he Understands the decease is no joke. Boris Johnson time in ICU clearly changed his strategy in the good way, in my opinion at least. Hopefully the same will happen in the US. Or, he's caught a very weak case and he brags about how the flu is much bigly worse and everyone should throw their masks away and drool on eachother. Then we're F'd. |

Seems like there is an uptick in cases in the Northern Hemisphere and at least in Europe, they are starting to implement more lock downs? Not sure if that's in store for the US too.

If we look at the ICU occupation rate, the situation in France is worse than when we decided the first lockdown. a second one started yesterday but it is a weird one. Many people can still go to work and a lot of stores are still open. Some local mayor even decided to keep open most of their local stores despite the government decision. At the end this lockdown is quite a joke and for what it’s worth I expect more deaths that what we had during the first wave. Maybe even more than what the US had while our population is 5 times smaller.
During this time, 200 days without a local transmission case in Taiwan and things are going great in China or Vietnam. The climate may have a role, but mostly the population is less stupid when it comes to public health than in the occidental world. They are asked to wear a mask, they do it without whining about a pseudo liberty privation. They are asked to not regroup, they respect it. And soon when they will be asked to get vaccinated, they will do it because there is no anti-vaccers idiots like in our countries and they recognize that vaccins save lives. Yesterday the news interviewed some people about why they were outside in Marseille, second biggest city in France. A young mother was saying she did not believe COVID was real so she was going to keep going outside to enjoy the sun. Others are still referring to the decease as a small flue. What a bunch of idiots! Living with the virus does not mean living like before without changing anything and let our elders and weak people die! People are society thinking this way is terribly selfish, cynical and disgusting. Living with the virus means accept that temporarily we need to do a collective effort to protect those people, until better days. This is what it means to be a nation. now the situation in Europe is critical. Other countries that are still in the first wave or in between two waves know what to expect. We’ll see if they can learn from it or if they will act like they know better and cause even more deaths... Last edited on 2020-10-31 06:55:10 by Kanar |

Unfortunately I am quite sure that my country is going to be one of these countries that "know better". Our president turned the vaccination into a politocal thing as he decided not to buy chinese vaccines. And he also said that vaccination will not be obligatory... |

I like the fact that at least Merkel is acting kind of smooth at the moment. So Germany is for now not on the list of "that other countries". We have so called Covidiots as well, a minority. Right wing parties occupying this movement, turns it into something most people basically dislike. The biggest problem in German IMO is the so called federalism, which means each of these 16 parts of Germany can act as it thinks is right. This causes some series issues, and discussion. Would love to have a more centralized approach, maybe by introducing a DefCon like ruleset with rules set in stone for each level. Each part of Germany can then decide on his own (with help from the central government) which DefCon applies for its part of Germany, and everyone would know what was allowed and what is not.

Are other countries buying the Chinese vaccine? Wondering what the results have been. Are there any results from countries whose media is not beholden to the state? Steve SD Blitz |
