Things are going very slow in France. People like me should not have the opportunity to be vaccinated before the end of spring. That’s normal to go last, I just wish I could go a little bit faster.
I am part of the lucky ones: Despite a significant salary loss, I kept my job, I leave in a decent house and I have a wife. But many people are now unemployed or fighting like hell to keep it, leave in a small apartment and/or are alone. It’s also for them we need to speed up the process. |

Today I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine....I have to get the 2nd dose in a few weeks. I guess we're probably a little ahead of a lot of Europe - - although UK looks like they have a lot of people already with the Astrazeneca vaccine.
I don't know if the vaccine are the beginning of the end of the virus threat or new strains will make the vaccine insufficiently effective. Hope it's the end... Anyway, just curious how the vaccine roll-outs are going elsewhere. Good luck! Steve SD Blitz |

Good news Steve!
Most of my in-laws in the US got their first or second dose. Only my young niece and nephew did not get it yet. The US are definitely ahead compared to Europe. "Luckily" for me, my parents were part of the first campaign because of their health issues. My grand parents got vaccinated a little bit after. Being under 35 and being healthy, I should not have access to the vaccine before summer. But if for any reason I have an opportunity to get it before, without taking it away from a weaker person, I will not hesitate. People in France are very tired about the situation. The responsible ones are still doing their best to limit the risks. But more and more are being selfish and have highly inappropriate behaviors (parties, big family or friends meetings, not wearing mask in public). Our politics are weak too and put their reelection first, before the people safety and good. I guess you guys in the US can relate. Last edited on 2021-03-27 06:32:36 by Kanar |

In Germany, they established risk groups. I am priority 2, my old mother group 1. Since she depends on care at home, she was allowed to put 2 people in group 2, who take care of her daily needs. Result:
My mother got biontech, 2nd shot today. I got AstraZeneca, 2nd shot in May My wife and my son got AstraZeneca as well, 2nd shot in May. But too many people do not trust in AZ due the PR disaster. This is a shame. We approach a 3rd wave right now. |

I know that 16 yo's can get it here...but my daughter is 14 yo and don't think the vaccines are approved for those ages. My 80+ yo mom and in-laws got vaccinated in one of the first phases. I think the US is between 15%-25% vaccinated now - - depending if you count 1 dose or 2. Steve SD Blitz Last edited on 2021-03-27 18:30:50 by Solana_Steve |

My son is 25.
Around 10% got their first shot, 8.6 million. About 3.7 million got their second shot already in Germany. Today, I guided my mother through her second shot. At the entrance, their is a big sign "First shot, AstraZeneca only". People got mad to the guys handling the reception. Usually the reception is run by soldiers. If I was that guy, I would have used my weapon, I am afraid. Those guys were blamed badly for the idiots which turned AstraZeneca into "something out of hell"... |

Yep, I got my 1st dose of the AZ vaccine 2 weeks ago, my wife had hers a week before.. we're both in our 40s and not in any 'at risk' groups. While there's a lot to criticise about how the UK has dealt with many aspects of the pandemic, we've handled the vaccination programme superbly. |

I thought some countries had paused the AstraZeneca vaccine because of side effects, but I guess that was only temporary? It is pretty amazing how quickly these companies were able to create vaccines. Also, I was impressed with the organization at the hospital when I got my vaccine. The web sign-ups was kind of a disorganized mess in California...you'd think the home to silicon valley would get that part right. :-) Steve SD Blitz Steve SD Blitz |

The development of those vaccines was not started when the pandemic happened. It was just pushed. This is why we did not have to wait for years, since the basic work was done already.
Meanwhile, the stupid Germans stopped AstraZeneca almost completely. The biggest enemy of the human race is the human race |

Yup, SARS was almost twenty years ago now - people have been working on Coronavirus vaccines since then, pretty much
