I must agree with you

I was thinking about updating the Covid-19 status here in Brazil but just thinking about it makes me sad enough... Things are getting worse jere and politics are playing a big (and awful) role on how everything is being managed. We are on our 4th Health Minister since the pandemic started and our president do not seem to be trustful at all. I feel like the brazilians were left alone in the middle of this "storm".

So I got my 2nd shot of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday...some minor sickness, but not too bad. Happy to have it over with - - although they are talking about additional booster shots for Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines.

The issue we're starting to come up against in the US is the Vaccination Wall (people refusing to get the vaccine). Most places there is still a shortage of vaccine shots, but some states apparently they have plenty of doses by people aren't signing up anymore. That's unfortunate, because the US is about at 40% getting the vaccine so far...if that doesn't get a lot higher, I'm not sure what that does to herd immunity.

On a brighter note, my daughter is in on-site high school, 4 of 5 days a week. Which I think is better than most "big city" school districts in the US.

How are things in Europe? It looks like there are some case spikes in Spain, France, Italy...hope they can get a handle on that.

Best of luck,

Steve

In Germany, nothing changed.

We are to slow when it comes to vaccination. Meanwhile we act like vaccination was finished successfully. In my opinion, there are quite a few politicians in charge, who gave up on managing the pandemic. We have some quite smart heads in our sciety, scientists, but seems the person in charge to not get the idea behind exponential spreading.

We are about to enter our last week of lockdown but so far there is No significant improvement of the situation. Hard to say what will happen next.

I believe we will face a similar problem with those antivaxers, but for now, the supply is not enough for those who want to be vaccinated.

I really hope that soon enough the vaccination will be compulsory to take the plane. You already need to prove you got some other vaccines to go to some countries, it would be pretty much the same. But until everybody gets access to the vaccine, it’s hard to set up this rule.

This is the important part.

I got my first shot, getting my 2nd in 3 weeks. Why should I be allowed to do something others cannot do, as long as not everybody got his vaccination who wanted it?

Personally I would not mind. On the contrary, I would be happy for you even if personally I can not do the same.

I am a swimmer. Pools are closed for a year now in France. Should I ask to forbid people to go running because personally I can not do my favorite sport?

I am working in retail of non essential goods. I am losing money every day the stores are closed. I lost 2 months of salary last years. During this time flowers stores or hairdressers were open. In my opinion, these are not essential businesses. But instead of being jealous and asking for their closure, I am happy for those business owners who can continue to work.

If only people thought like that in all aspects of life.

"If something was bad for me it should be bad for everyone" is a very common sentiment here and all it does is decrease quality of life for everyone.

To be fair it is easier when life has not been so rough on you. I can understand why some people feel differently.

And to be clear seeing millionaires having private diners when small restaurants are closed makes me sick.

Have you seen some of these photos of the huge block parties here in the states. Perhaps millionaires are bending the rules, but a lot of others are too.

In California now, everybody over 16 yo is now eligible to get the vaccine as of April 15th. Maybe getting an appointment will take a while, but very shortly it will just be a choice. However, California has long been a stronghold of the anti-vaccination movement (because we blindly follow what Hollywood celebrities tell us)...so we'll quickly see what vaccination levels are achievable.

That's interesting that flower shops and hairdressers are considered essentially businesses in France. In California, all the barbers/hairdressers have had to closed twice now for prolonged periods of time.
