Daily confirmed COVID-19 deaths per million, rolling 7-day average
I've been watching the site as the US opens up to see if the rate of death in the states rise. The daily average are hard track since there is a 7 day cycle. Steve SD Blitz |

Try this site..
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ Also, to try to compare New York with London (our worst hit city), I did manage to find some London data... New York was roughly twice as bad as London on most criteria. The UK's overall population is obviously a lot denser than that of USA, so we've seen a fairly even spread of infection over the country after the initial London peak. The spread has been slower in the USA due to the massive scale, both Florida and California look bad right now - there's not the big spike that NY had, but no real sign of the rates dropping significantly. We’ll need to learn to live with it. Not because it is the best thing to do, but because it’s the direction our leaders chose.

I don't know how accurate some reports our. In the US, they keep talking about the spike in the number of cases (in some states), however the number of deaths continues to decline. Most of California is doing okay. But LA has problems - - it seems like all the big cities have problems - - either because of density or mismanagement or both. I guess that'll be down to the medical services simply becoming better at dealing with it... more effective testing, earlier diagnosis, earlier treatment. It hit hardest initially because it was a new threat, and few had any real idea of how to deal with it! Plus more effective isolation of the most vulnerable - newer cases are more likely to among the younger and fitter people, who are more likely to survive... Whatever, it's horrible, and it's great that for many countries the situation is improving... Latin/South America however is another story... |

There is no improvement at all for countries ranked, 1 to 4_ USA, Russia, Brazil, India. #5 on the list is showing improvements, UK.
I find it hard to call the situation "improved" right now. |

Of course, on a global scale it is getting worse... My 'improving' comment was referring to the initial hotspots - France, Italy, UK, Belgium, Spain - all of whom suffered very badly in the beginning, but appear to be in some degree of control of the situation now. Even in the USA, the northeast appears to be recovering.. but southern and western states are now feeling the force, and (trying to avoid being too political) suffering from certain policy decisions |

yes, it seems Europe does quite good right now, except our "control group" Sweden, and Russia of course

Whether the rest of the country has to still go through that or if NY/NJ was the exception is yet to be seen. 7-day moving average of the death rate in US keeps falling as the number of cases increase. Will that trend continue or tick up? Steve SD Blitz |
