I had a (crazy) idea that I want to share and know what you all think...
I was thinking about the implementation of bowl games after the regular season. Each team could play only one bowl-type game during the last weeks of the season. The goal is to keep some entertainment for those teams that have not qualified for league ou SC playoffs and those eliminated in the first playoff week. Things are usually boring at this time for some teams (specially for those new teams). I also thought about how to define these games. The idea is to keep fix bowl games with strict eligibility rules (sth like ELO rate over 700 or 9+ wins on SC etc.) and those interested and eligible may apply for such game, being paired with another team of similar campaign or level. Just to be clear, we could have more than one "Rose Bowl" or any-other-name bowl since more than 2 teams may be eligible for that game. Another fun thing: the bowl trophy may appear in the team trophy room. Someone may want to collect all bowls... lol Just to finish the idea: I am not aiming on financial reasons. My only goal with the idea is to add some new challenge. |

We had a similar suggestion long time ago, but it never came through.
I hope this time we get some more attention. I personally like the idea, since lack motivation is likely the main reason many teams get abondoned early. |

it is boring during the offseason if you have no post season games
Is it possible that those that didn't qualify for the supercup ko rounds are put into a separate ko competition so giving them something to look forward to ? |

To add some links here:
After regular Supercup season Basic idea was to give 1 more game after Supercup regular season finished, based on record or similar metric and to to win a trophy if you had a winning record in Supercup. How to keep managers interested if they do not make the playoffs Similar idea, just for league games, but mainly discussed was some sort of round robin tournament. Just to stay busy. Toilett Bowl Also similar idea here, missing the palyoffs will give teams the chance to participate in a different tournament. Ignore the 'fun' name, I guess. There was also discussions of sort of davis cup format here mine and here RZA Cup (see discussion later) And i found also this one: Consolidation Cup Also similar idea regarding league games and some fun after regular season with no playoffs. |

I think I would have searched on the forum first. No new idea at all but it is still a good idea imho. I hope someone gets interested about it.

I really like this idea and think it would add a lot to the off-season.
The only concern I would have would be if participation was dependant on supercup or league records. If a new team joined in the last few weeks of the season, they would likely have a worse record in both completions and could then miss out and potentially lose motivation. I think participation would have to be for all human players who missed out on their leagues post seasons. Perhaps it could be a series of mini tournaments based on the friendly cup structure and the members of each bowl could be determined based on ELO, manager rank, seasons played? Not sure how hard something like that would be to code though. |

This could be the perfect use of ELO. Going up by 100s (or so), you could group all teams that didn't make league or Supercup playoffs into ELO pools, and then have another layer to determine specific bowl matchups (maybe like league level or something similar).

The idea of all human managers playing a bowl game in this way is ok. A "very basic" bowl with loose restriction rules would allow it to happen.
I am always looking for an idea to make ELO a bit more important (but not too much). It seems to be a good use for it imho. |

And if someone joins in the off season he will be overwelmed anyway I guess. |
