I can see how many catches my wrs make, what their average is etc, but nowhere to show me what their actual catch completion rate is:
Big difference between I guy who makes 5 catches and 50 yards off 6 targets compared to one who was targeted ten times. Also - is there a way to game view after the event without seeing the result before hand? |

The closest I could find to that is you add up a WR drops (offense stats page)to his receptions to figure out his completion percentage. That raises another question that needs clarifying. What is recorded on the Team Stats page. To investigate I looked at one game and investigate the game log and compare it with game stats. I randomly picked a play off game from last season in Dragons 1.
I then used Cheesehead's RZA Game Analyser (really, what a great person this Cheesehead must be!  ) and exported game data into Excel
 Source: https://i.imgur.com/aCDntFs.png As you can see we have three more completed passing attempts more than are reported in the game stats (46 vs 43). We have one more drop (9 vs 8). We have one less overthrown passes (7 vs 6). I will go through each discrepancy below... Extra passes - BUG ANALYSER Three receivers had one more completed catch as was shown in the logs. However upon investigation I found a bug in the Analyser where a play with sack is reported as a catch (the receiver is mentioned at being targeted however a sack happens - interestingly enough this does show that QBs make up their mind and then try to execute). So that one is on me, or well, uhm, on that Cheesehead guy really 
Extra drop Upon investigation I noticed that a pass to a HB is not reported in the game stats so that explains the extra drop. I need further investigation to see if none of the passes to HBs are reported in game stats. One missing overthrown pass When I look through the game log I can only identify 6 overthrown passes. I cannot identify a 7th pass that does seem to be present in game stats. This is by deduction only, as we can only assume that any passes that are not caught or dropped, are overthrown passes. Using this logic there should be 7 passes overthrown (58 passes - 43 complete - 8 drops = 7 overthrown passes) Stats per wide receiver with addition of proven overthrown passes (from the game log)  Source: https://i.imgur.com/2gxpxlp.png So we are left with this final table of stats for passing in this. I've added a TrueStat (tm) column that shows the real stats based on evidence that can be found in the game logs.  Source: https://i.imgur.com/fbkqTXT.png An interesting investigation that might warrant a follow up investigation of more games to see if there are other wrinkles to be find in the reported stats. And to answer the original question, using Game Analyser you can get a true completion figure for your WRs. As game stats do not record overthrown passes and not per wide receiver, game log will not give you a complete picture (as in NFL overthown passes are counted against WRs as not caught passes). |

You don't perchance happen to know if this Cheasehead guy might have fixed the bug in that great tool?
What exactly was the bug anyway? Are all sacks recorded as catches or just "special sacks"? |

I've not done any work in it for years. I expect all sacks to be counted as competed passes. Reason I've not Cathy it before is that sacks are a relatively rare play when considering all plays. Should be easy to fix it I suspect. I do wonder if after all this time I need to sort of reverse engineer the whole thing before I can make changes to it again
