+1 for changing the playbook before working on other changes!

The other day i was reading the forum about the 4th down issue and i start thinking it might be a better solution.
My conclusion was that implementing the random formations and the mainly/prefer situations that are in the game settings into the playbook. The rookie would have to start dealing with the playbook straight away, changing the easier thigs first like each down orders like it is in the match settings. I just find it confusing trying to deal with the match settings and the playbook. it's like having 2 playbooks but 1 overwriting the other, and when you start you don't know what rule overwrites the other. |

I agree that this does need clearing up because it seems there is apparently the potential for two different sets of instructions to be operating and it is not abundantly clear which will be chosen especially if you can't see the playbook. Maybe the game setting options should be removed where they are over-ridden by the playbook. Perhaps as you suggest they should be incorporated into the playbook and from the start newbies could see both. Possibly a message could be presented where relevant saying 'this will override the xxx - do you want to continue?' in the good old Microsoft fashion. |

I was thinking about a simpler solution,
Deleting completely the tactical orders from the match settings. so there wouldn't be anything overwriting other things. I think it would be more clear and easy to understand and learn the actual playbook. And also puting the ramdom formations on the playbook, it would be easy to experiment without losing completely control. That's the opinion from a completely noobie but tries to understand how things works. |

I couldn't see anything in the manual about how it works either, though it was a really brief scan through.
The game settings will kick in if the engine can't find a situation for that down. For example if there are no first down rules for offense found in the playbook, the game settings will be used. this is handy, but the engine randomly picks medium and deep passes that result in interceptions...alot of interceptions Still agree that the depth of the playbook could be made more user-friendly and a little bit deeper. |

I think the simple solutions would be puting these seting into the playbook. ie: Quarter:any, Down:1st, YTG:any, DTG:any, Score:any, Clock:any, Formation:Random, pass/rush:Prefer pass, Direction:All. and if the settings won't find anything everything will be random. It wouldn't be more tricky than it is now and would give more options to the playbook. |

For the general match settings there are drop down box options such as Mainly rush, prefer rush, rush/pass, prefer pass, mainly pass on each down. In the playbook however, there is only run or only pass. Is it possible to be able to use the options for the playbook just like the general match settings in the playbook itself? That would go a long way to solving the issue of having only one specific play in a situation. Yes I also think it would be nice to be able to set something like: "4th Q, If behind more than 21 prefer/mainly pass, random formation (or a selection of formation and plays). In fact if we could chose "random formation" and "prefer/mainly run/pass" it would be enough to have much more flexibility in the rule settings. |
