I find it funny that all these news articles have pictures of gold coins with Bs on them (representing the Bitcoins)...a currency that is entirely virtual. Its kind of missing the point. Steve SD Blitz true, but what to show? Odd pictures taken by using a microscope, from the surface of a hard disc? |

I'm thinking something from the matrix, maybe? The only movie that it 100% accurate when it comes to the virtual world. :-)

Steve SD Blitz Or maybe governments don't want to see yet more tulip mania-style speculative bubbles followed by the inevitable market crash. p.s. - no need for Bitcoin; as a worthless and doomed currency already exists, ..... welcome to the Euro |

Capitalism thrives on money being in accounts.
The only reason I can see for Bitcoin doing so well (short term) and being supported in America and Western Countries is that eventually they will move onto digital currency only. No tax evadion, likely to be.always in banks meaning more tax etc. Bitcoin is doomed. Little is known about the founder, will disappear eventually. What will happen is that it will be replaced by a bank-run system with government backing or maybe even a treasury supported digital currency. Either way, the rich will get richer yet working class fools will buy in because it looks "cool". Governments, big business and financial institions (IMF) are unlikely to ever let Bitcoin truly prosper and become a viable alternative. I love the idea of Bitcoin, please don't think that I'm against it. But, capitalism would fold if a viable option of global currancy was created independently, or as a type of shareware (if you get me), away from the existing financial institutions. Nice act to protect the own powers on the own value...not more IMO.
Bitcoin would be great, if the start wouldn't had be done (right grammar??) by a few nerds only...we need a currency out of control by govts and banks and the stock exchanges...this would be helpful in different ways... |

And then I think you meant "not controlled by govts" instead of "out of control". |
