Manta Rays Flip the Friendly Cup Script at Hammer Sports Park

At Hammer Sports Park, with Wonder Comics sponsoring the day and no visitors in the seats for this private Friendly Cup clash, the experts had leaned toward HAMBURG SEA LIONS taking care of business at home. But the away crew, Manta Rays, came through with that hard-corner swagger and turned the whole prediction sheet into confetti.
Manta Rays opened the scoring with Errol Keller drilling an early field goal after Dusty Humes and the offense moved into range. HAMBURG SEA LIONS answered with defense when Bodo Schubert smashed Humes in the end zone for a safety, giving the home sideline some real street-corner energy.
The Lions then got cooking behind Alfredo Richter, who found Ferdi Ludwig for a short touchdown catch, with Emir Pouget adding the kick. Pouget later knocked through a field goal after a steady Hamburg drive, but Manta Rays stayed grimy and patient. Dusty Humes hit Miquel Norfleet for a touchdown before halftime, and Errol Keller handled the extra kick like it was routine business.
The third quarter got wild. Zdravko Keller fumbled early, and Will Westbrook recovered for Manta Rays, setting up the away squad deep in Hamburg territory. Gitesh Narang punched in a touchdown run, and Keller added the kick. HAMBURG SEA LIONS hit back when Burt Cantwell ran it in near the goal line, but the PAT was missed, keeping the tension sharp. Manta Rays answered again with Dwayne Brent hauling in a touchdown pass, followed by another clean Keller kick.
In the fourth, Manta Rays came out talking loud without needing a mic. Dobri Straub grabbed a touchdown pass, Keller added the PAT, and then the defense made the coldest move of the night: Bryant Stover was intercepted by Sotirios Roda, who brought it back deep. Right after that, Humes found Klemens Kelley for another touchdown, with Keller again finishing the job.
HAMBURG SEA LIONS did not fold soft. They marched downfield with runs from Shane Higginbotham, Rafał Migoś, Ferdi Ludwig, and Burt Cantwell, plus catches from Dau Ngige, Tony Krämer, Ernest Pastorek, and Domingo Robles. Migoś capped that push with a touchdown run, and Pouget hit the PAT. But Manta Rays kept moving chains late with Dwayne Brent, Isaiah Braga, Klemens Kelley, and Dobri Straub, even after Keller missed a late field goal attempt.
This game had sacks, missed tackles, busted blocks, injuries, returns, and momentum swings like a Bronx cipher with shoulder pads. HAMBURG SEA LIONS had flashes, especially through Richter, Stover, Ludwig, Migoś, and the defense around Schubert and Trey Skaggs. But Manta Rays owned the key moments, forced the crucial turnover, and made the home favorite pay.
