2018-02-12 02:13:28 - Farewell to some old standybysReport Abuse

The Dawgs are saying goodbye to some familiar faces this season.

Felipe Emmons
Bought to the YA from Jersey Scorpions in season 14 near the end of the great $5k lotto ticket run, Felipe was never a star like fellow s15 YA grad Stefan Parkinson, but he was always a "glue guy" on the practice field and the locker room. Willing to take on whatever job needed doing, FE ended his run at LB/CB/SF with
727 tackles vs. 85 misses (89.5%) - the only player with more tackles and a better percentage ... the incomparable Jarvis Dean
64 sacks - good for 11th in franchise history
23 interceptions - another 11th spot
14 FF - tied for 7th
9 FR - tied for 9th
20 def TD - tied for 8th

Sarahani Okar
13th selection in the season 18 draft, "Soaker" made Mel Kiper look foolish by developing into a max-speed Heavyweight.
A lifelong DE, he didn't rack up the greatest individual stats, but ate the FBs for hundreds of sacks.
828 tackles vs. 157 missed (84.1%)
379 tackles for losses - 4th all time
32 sacks
24 FF - 2nd all time
14 FR
In his final season, he mostly skipped the D snaps and racked up 110 special teams tackles.

Kory Conner (Likely HoFer)
Signed to the YA as a 17 year old in season 15, Kory was saddled with the nickname "Rayford Michaels Jr." until the season 21 contract snafu, Kory shined bright once he stepped out of the shadows.
818 tackles vs. 142 missed (85.2%)
253 sacks - Top Dawg of all-time
253 tackles for losses - 8th all-time
20 FF - tied for 8th
24 FR - 2nd all-time

Avinesh Mateinaqara
- The first ever first round pick under current management following the the season 11 Bowl win
- A very undersized DE at 40.6 str, AM was still an agile Brick Wall whose Slippery ways opened up a ton of sack opportunities for our blitzers

A quick reminder to fans of how important he has been
- #1 in defensive tackles - nearly 100 ahead of number 2
- #1 in in tackle success pct among our career top 10 tacklers at 88%
- #1 in TFL - almost 40% ahead of number 2, 507 of his 1049 tackles were behind the line
- #6 in Sacks - 79 - playing exclusively from the DL
- #1 in fumbles forced with 27
- #1 in fumbles recovered with 29
- #9 in DefTD with 15 - everyone with more DefTDs had at least 20 interceptions, the next closest pure DL only had 6

From beating blocks to getting to the FB first to open a lane, AM was always a team player - later in his career, he took on ST duties and amassed 231 STTs - good for #8 on the team's all-time list
