Your S30 Fire 1 Champions! After several seasons of knocking at the door, the Chaser finally broke through erasing bitter memories of playoff flame-out past. Following a 14-2 regular season to claim the conference's top seed and the team's fourth consecutive divisional title, the Chasers fought off stiff competition in the playoffs to win the franchise's first ever league championship. Winning the championship was a complete team effort, but several players contributed noteworthy performances. QB Carrasco was the 2nd in the league and 3rd in Fire. TE Krajnc was 1st in the league and 3rd in Fire. RB Thoi was 2nd in the league. And TE Fossum and K Pierson were both 3rd in the league.

Winning the conference means a promotion to Elite. It is going to be a tough season without any easy games, so the team will need to be on point every week. Unfortunately, they will need to do so without the leadership of retired OL Tamanisau. When the veteran joined the team in S26, the front office was hoping to have him around a couple of seasons to help the development of the O-line, but he was having so much fun, he stuck around through his age 33 season but after such a long career, his body just didn't have enough gas left to compete in Elite. He retires as the team leader in Fire 1 pancakes and will be an interesting conversation during the team HOF discussion. Had he spent more time with the Chasers, he'd be a no doubter, but having played only five of his 11 seasons with the franchise, all of which resulted in playoff appearances, he didn't have as much time to contribute. Also retiring are OL Bratcher, who played four seasons at guard and WR Petersen, who was the first WR in team history to win a league award in Fire 2.2. All three will be missed.

In the Super Cup, the Chaser advanced further into the playoffs than ever before, losing in the third round on a FG in the closing minute of the game.

The Chaser is running out of things to prove in the regular season coming off an impressive 15-1 league record and their third consecutive division title. Unfortunately, the team's playoff struggles continued as for the second straight season, the Chaser was watching the League Championship from home while a team they beat in the regular season won the championship. In the only playoff game, the Chaser jumped out to a 27-13 halftime lead only to watch the Flying Ducktales take control in the second half with 21 consecutive points to go up 34-27. With the time running out, the Chaser forced and recovered a fumble in Ducktale territory and took the ball down to the one yard line. On the final play, on fourth down, the Ducktales stuffed the Chaser in the backfield on what could have been an overtime-forcing touchdown run. The game was an instant classic, but unfortunately, the Chaser was on the wrong end of it.

The 15-1 record (including 6-0 in division play) sets a new team record for regular season performance. One change the team made to reach these new heights was to ask for more snaps out of the starters. The coaching staff continues to search for the point where the fresh back-up players will outperform the tiring stars. The result was new individual record performances including our first 1,000-yard rusher (RB Thoi, 1,078) and 1,000-yard receivers (WR Frederickson 1,195 and TE Krajnc 1,031). Krajnc also was named the best TE in Fire 1.1 for the second consecutive season. QB Carrasco, in his first full season leading the offense, went over 4,000 yards passing, compiled a 44:5 TD-interception ratio for a passer rating of 100.54. His performance was recognized by being named the third best QB in Fire 1.1. K Pierson also was named third best in Fire 1.1 at his position. While no defenders received individual achievement awards, the unit was a dominant force holding all of its regular season opponents under 20 points per game.

In SC play, coming out of one of the toughest divisions, the Chaser went 14-1 for second place and a playoff spot. Unlike S28's playoff appearance, the team rallied in the fourth quarter to win a first round playoff game before running into the best overall team not only in all of Fire, but in the world in Wilmersdorf Wadenbeisser.

2018-02-11 14:51:36 - Season 28 RecapReport Abuse

PR Chaser continued to their upward march through Fire 1.1 last season improving by two wins to 14-2 regular season record. A tough day in the divisional round of the playoffs left the team wondering what could have been. For example, the Chaser beat both teams that competed in the Fire 1.1 Super Bowl.

In Super Cup play, the Chaser had a strong season going 14-1 in divisional play in a very competitive grouping. This meant a return to the SC Playoffs, and in a tight game, the Chaser scored a go-ahead TD with less than a minute to play only to give up a Hail Mary for the loss.

Chaser also competed in the Almost Elite Friendly Cup, and fittingly, won the title proving this team was almost elite. It was a high note to end the season and the careers of two of the earliest free agents to join the team. QB Okotie-Eboh and LB Alonso had been integral members of the team since they joined and will be missed. This also means the team is headed a new direction at quarterback as former 2nd round draft pick Carrasco will take over the helm. He split time with Okotie-Eboh last season and proved himself to be ready to take on full-time duty. Going with a younger QB could mean a few more mistakes, but with a solid, veteran supporting cast, Chaser anticipates a smooth transition to be in competition for the Fire 1.1 title.

Finally, a special congratulations to TE Krajnc for being named not only the best TE in Fire 1.1, but the best TE in the entire Fire division. This is the first time a Chaser has won an individual achievement award since being promoted to Fire 1.1 highlighting the emphasis on team with less attention being paid to individual egos.
