Saying it doesn't make it true.

Last season there were no Admiral teams in the semifinals. This season's final 16 is Admiral-less. We need to remedy this situation next season.

Also doesn't make it untrue.

SC hardly defines the strength of a league. Pretty much any 1.1 team can beat any team can beat any team on a good day. A lot of RNG involved.

Not the time to do a full analysis, but my predictions for tonights divisional playoffs are :

Wildcats over Electric
Magpies over Taints
Mascots over Bobcats
Packers over Ducks

Potential Shock.....Taints to beat Magpies.

Good luck to all.

I tend to agree with all of this, although the Mascot/Bobcats game is a tough call to make.

In order to be the best you have to beat the best as well as the rest. Until then, we can't call ourselves #1 every year just because we have done well in the past. The supercup allows us to play against other leagues to see what each league can do. Our top teams especially need to bump it into high gear like they are capable of doing. We need to back up our talk with more titles, or at least more appearances in final and semi-final supercup games.

Hopefully I can contribute to this cause next season. I'm working on a way to lessen my turnovers, which is one part of my problem.

not strictly true Ombi.

The SC isn't a fair reflection of strength of leagues - certainly not the knockout phases anyway. For a start, see how many Admirals only ties there have been...the Mascots drawing the Magpies in R1 for a start, meaning one goes home - and they aren't the only ones.

Without looking at the numbers, Id be prepared to wager that we got :

one of the highest numbers through to the knockout stage
had one of the highest numbers advancing into round 2

then - it does become more of a lottery and all about the draw. HFA is huge and then, as Rock says, it is all about the engine knowing any team can beat any team. Our 'loss' this year doesn't mean we've been overtaken - its just not been our year. A true reflection is over a much bigger sample.....and there id suggest we reign supreme.

We don't (necessarily) have the best teams....we just run the deepest with quality. Our guys in Elite get relegated with 11-5, 10-6 records....some leagues teams are division winners with less than .500 records.

We've also boasted true dynasty teams. Take away Landru, San Diego Blitz...maybe a few others, we have had the Mascots, High Fives, Tromso, Carrickfergus Knights, all of whom have won multi trophies and dominated the game...not to mention other SC and CoC winners....

Bad season yes....still #1 though.

Not having to compete every week leads to more super teams in the less deep leagues.

Yep. What he said.

The SC thread has the stats posted. Admirals (not counting Elite teams) had a huge majority going into the first round (25 teams vs 16 in Sea Devils), and didn't lose that majority until round three.

sad end to season....looks like my guys have ran out of steam and getting a walloping.

still, in a season where I really didn't expect to get much past .500 and lost a lot of players, still rebuilding, I cant complain at all.

well done Rock...deserved winners and gl against the Magpies, along with everyone else.

we'll be back next season...!
