Recap of Last Games

Battle of Britain

This one started as a defensive battles as Toffee and Bucks went into the 4th quarter with Toffee up 9-6. Then their defenses went on strike? lol. In the 4th Toffee tossed up a 71 yard and a 43 yard touchdown. Bucks countered with a short touchdown and 2 field goal. Just for fun with 4 seconds to go Bucks throw another touchdown for 65 yards. Toffee came out with a 23-20 win.

St. Pauli VS NE

When I saw the final score was St. Pauli 52 and NE 16 I was very surprised by this blowout. So I dug a little deeper. When you look at the stats they aren't one sided as the score would seem to indicate. In fact NE got into the redzone (within the 20 yard line of St. Pauli) 6 times and got 1 TD and 3 field goals. Inexplicably they also punted on the 20 yard line twice. I think that has got to be a playbook error they will look at soon. In any case there is only one statistic that truly reflects the score and it is the one statistic that decided this game:

3rd down conversions: NE was 5 of 14 converting. St. Pauli as 9 of 10! There were several of those third down conversions that NE missed that were in the redzone and were short yardage.

Snakeo VS Dolphins

This was a 7-3 score going into halftime with Miami having a slim lead. After 3 quarters it was 14-9 Miami lead. To start off the 4th quarter Snakeo throws a 50+ yard td to take a 16-14 lead. Miami responds with a +40 yard touchdown. They have a 21-16 lead. The final score was 28-16 but in the last 20 seconds Miami throws an 80 yard touchdown. Snakeo held its own despite the team ratings compared to Miami.

Red Bull VS Cheshire

Cheshire's achilles heel struck again. Vs NE Cheshire threw 8 interceptions that cost them the game. This week against Red Bull they threw 3 interceptions in the first half in their own half of the field giving Red Bull a short field all half that netted Red Bull 21 points. In fact, when Red Bull received the kickoff they rarely scored on a long drive. I think I counted 6 times they received the kickoff and of those 6 they had only 2 field goals. Almost all of their points were off of turnovers (interceptions and missed field goals, short ones). So despite Red Bull winning 36-16 I don't think Cheshire is that far off.

Turigtians 19 Vikings 13

2 fairly matched teams put up a good game! 2 big plays in the game: An interception return by Turigtians and an 80 yard touchdown by Vikings. Outside that this game was about controlling the game, which Turigtians did. They had multiple 11 play drives.

Next set of games

Bucks Vs Seahawks

I know both teams are 2-3 but it feels like an important game in a season as if you lose you are 2-4 vs if you win and are 3-3. Feels very different going forward. Bucks have been through the wringer! Past three games have been vs NE, Vikings, and Toffee which are all teams with winning records. All of their losses have been to top tier teams. 2 of those games bucks lost were close ones.

In contrast Seahawks haven't had to play any tough games outside of myself yet.

If I were to wager I'd place my bet on Bucks but not all of my money lol.

St. Pauli VS Minglewood

Ok this matchup has me a little excited but maybe for not the reason you'd think. Yes both are division leaders. Yes Minglewood is #1 passing and Pauli is #2 passing. Yes both pass defenses are decent but not elite. This is what intrigues me:

St. Pauli has 21 interceptions thrown and Minglewood has thrown 14. While both teams are towards the bottom in getting interceptions with their defense. Minglewood has 2 for the year. Turnovers WILL decide this game. I'm sure Turigtians is rooting for St. Pauli so they can take over the division lead.

That is all for games coming up. Most of the games are pretty cut and dried. There is Cheshire vs Vikings but that game will be close only if Cheshire can stop bleeding interceptions. Cheshire lost 3 in a row to great teams. I mean, Damn, Cheshire has had a brutal 3 game stretch with this one coming up. Unfortunately for them the Vikings D is pretty darn good and they like to intercept the ball.

Recap of Games

Eagles trounce NE?

Ok, I guess I didn't see that coming! I had this pegged as an easy win for NE. American Eagles is in the upper 40 and lower 50's for ratings. I was perplexed until I saw the stat that helped to explain the outcome. NE had 13 possessions (I don't count the ones that are a few seconds before half). Of those 13 possessions 6 ended in turnovers (4 interceptions and 2 fumbles) whereas American Eagles had 0 turnovers. I don't know if American Eagles game planned the hell out of NE, if they used game of the year option, or just hit lucky engine calculation lottery but they pulled out a win. A win I'm sure Cheshire didn't mind seeing lol.

The other 2 games that I noted turned out as expected but after a quarter I thought perhaps we would have a few upsets until the dominate teams pulled away.

Tomorrows Games

We are close to the halfway point. In fact in 4 days we will be halfway there I think. As we near the halfway point it has become mostly clear who most of the division favorites are. After the halfway point there will be fewer games to highlight as it will be mostly just those games with team with winning records vs each other.

To the games.....

Cheshire vs Jovan.
NE vs Seattle

I put these two games together as it will break up the 3-3 tie at the top of the division for NE and Cheshire.

Jovan Vs Cheshire shouldn't be in question when looking at records. Jovan is 1-5 and Cheshire is 3-3. However Jovan has made clear and gradual progress to this point. I don't hold anything against teams in their first few games as you have to purge all the garbage off of your roster and fill it with quality players, create a playbook, and figure out finances. Virtually no one comes in guns a blazing when taking a team over after the season has begun (especially without draft picks). The last 2 games for Jovan have been an 11 point loss to a very strong Budapest team and then a 55-0 win vs Virginia Tech. Don't sleep on Jovan.

Meanwhile Cheshire is licking its wounds losing 3 in a row to some of the strongest teams in Dragons 2 (NE/Redbull/Vikings). At least 2 of those games were in their reach if not for turnovers. Will they stop the bleeding?

Seattle vs NE is perhaps the biggest mystery between two teams I can't figure out. Based on the player ratings they should be competing for division titles in almost any division but they are both 3-3 at this point with victories and losses that are puzzling. In fact both teams have very similar ratings.

Seattle was destroyed by Minglewood, lost a close one to SF, and then lost to a team that has gone bot but that team had recently been bot itself.

NE lost a squeaker in the first game of the year to Red Bull but then the last couple games was blown out by St Pauli 52-16 and then to American Eagles 55-10.

Which NE and which Seattle will show up? Who knows.

I do know that these three teams (NE/Cheshire/Seattle) all play each other 1 more time this year. I also know that at least one of them will have a losing record close to the halfway point.

Snakes VS Redbull

The only competition Redbull has in the division is the 4-1 snakes. This game is important mostly for the Snakes so they can see how they stack up against one of the favorites to move to Dragons 1. I mean Redbull is top 5 in all 4 of the offense and defense team rankings and have only had one close game.

St. Pauli vs Budapest

I know it always feels like St. Pauli is on these game previews but they have had to play a couple undefeated teams and came out with the wins. They are up against yet another strong team in Budapest who is 4-1. Budapest has a stronger defense. It will be interesting to see if St Pauli can break through offensively while not throwing interceptions.

side notes

Philo has gone bot now.

After Tuesday I will look at teams and rework rankings.

Well...we had an upset and a great game out of the last round.

Recap of last games

Eagles Trounce France

France had more yards and more TOP but Eagles intercepted France 5 times for touchdowns including a 100 yard int return for a touchdown.

NE stalls vs Seahawks

NE hung around in the first half but then was held scoreless in the second half as Seahawks pulled away with field goals. Although without the 2 interception returns for touchdowns by NE then it is a 13-13 score.

Sakeo vs Red Bull

At halftime Redbulll had a 6-0 lead but then pulled away in the second half.

St. Paul no longer undefeated after loss to Budapest

It was a close game but Budapest dominated statistically despite the final score being only a 6 point win for Budapest.

Side note:

Toffee may be the next bot as there has not been a login since October 31.

Hello Dragons 2 League Members. Back in the day I would write out a fairly broken down power rankings for Dragons 1. I have been out of it for 20ish seasons so this is a watered down superficial ranking. Obviously this will include only human teams.

The next 8 posts I make on this thread will be a general assessment of each division with a slight breakdown of each team and the outlook. After I complete all 8 then I will post below here the overall rankings.

AC Power Rankings

I'm not going to number them in order but rather group them.

Cream of the Crop (Expect to win division and compete at conference level championship):

Turigtans, Miami, and Vikings

Solid Teams (Expect to compete for division and wild card):

Sfniner08, Lagos (if active), and Balaton

Working On It (expect to have a shot at a wild card and could be a darkhorse):

France, Minglewood, Godesburg, and Bathbucks

Building for the future . Unlikely to compete for playoffs but possible

Pittsburg, Denver, Cody, Toffee, Buffalo, Phillo,

Favorite to win AC

Turigtians

NC Power Rankings

Cream of The Crop

This is a 4 team conference and I wouldn't expect any other team to make it up here. These four team may start to separate as the season progresses.

Budapest Wolves
St. Pauli Packers
New England Coyotes
Red Bull Attackers

Solid Teams

Blackmanes has most potential to jump up next.
Mimidomes based on their recent victory.

Build For The Future

You might have noticed (if anyone is actually reading this lol) I skipped working on it. This is because this conference is very top heavy and then everyone else.

This section is everyone else not listed. There are various levels for those teams in terms of where they are in the building process but this power ranking is focused on just this season.

NC Conference Favorite

St. Pauli and Red Bull.

Top 5 Favorites For League Champ

St. Pauli
Red Bull
Turigtian
Miami
Vikings

Will u p d a t e at the halfway point

Hmm, thanks for doing this.

Next Games Preview!

After this set of games we are essentially at the halfway point!

There is only one game this week that I think will be close but there are a few others that are interesting, lets get to those first.

Cheshire VS Owls

Cheshire would really like to put more distance between them and NE (who is still alive). The owls are still alive for a playoff berth sitting at 3-3. In fact 2 of the 3 losses were close. They lost by 2 points to NE then the next game they lost by 1 to the Snakes. Don't sleep on the owls.

Mirmidomes VS Blackmanes

At first glance I would say Blackmanes should win this match....but Mirm. is a decent team that has taken down Budapest who is very strong. The only 2 losses they have are vs yours truly and France. They most definitely have the potential to pull off the upset and leave us with only 2 unbeaten teams left. Blackmanes absolutely needs this game as they still have to play ST. Pauli later on.

Dolphins VS Red Bull

Big game. Miami has one loss in week one to the now bot team that was Largo. Red Bull hasn't had a close game since week 1 Vs NE. On rankings the edge is definitely on Red Bull who are top 5 in all 4 categories. ELO and player ratings are on the side of Miami. This game might come down to who game plans the best or who has a better playbook.

I would say of the 3 unbeatens left two have a tough game coming up. How many will survive?
