Rabbits did start strong, but let the Cobras back into the game in the 2nd with no scores thanks to a missed FG. Then a great quarter by the Cobras in the 3rd did turn the game in their favor, with the Rabbits getting only a correction TD 30 ticks left in the game. Looks like the Cobras Defense was sharp on that day. KAFakofers @ birney's weekenders This is likely a win for the KAFakofers, with the weekenders being under bad management and not in shape. I don't think the manager will even show up prior the game, so ... KAFakofers win. 
The manager did show up, but the roster is just too messed up, so KAFakofers did win as expected. Weekenders QB did have 2 INTs, which were way too many. Orono Ancient Snappers @ Doves Snappers are gaining ground in terms of strength, so the rematch of this seasons regular season game will likely not end in a Snappers loss. But i expect a close game. Snappers win.
Doves QB had a bad period in the 1st half with 4 of 6! INTs in that time. With 7 minutes left to play they were only down by 2 scores, but the Snappers got one great long drive going to secure the win. Republicanos de Piratini @ Black Habaneros The Habaneros did lose the last game, but got MOTYed, and with PC down at the Piratini and overall weaker, I pick the Habaneros to win here. Habaneros win.
The 1st half quite open, but in the 3rd it went downhill without any turnovers, just unstoppable offense by the Habaneros. That makes it this for the Divisional Playoffs: Black Habaneros @ Ruhrpott Miners A rematch of a game this season, in which the Miners won quite big. Right now I see now reason to NOT pick the Miners to win the playoff game also, since they are stronger, have a better record and a more mature team. In playoffs, everything can happen, but based on the data ... Miners win. Cottbus Cobras @ Trnava Saints The difference in strength is quite high, so the Saints are obvious the favorite here. During the season the team won 'only' by 2 scores, but that is not a great way to value the teams. A win by the Cobras would be a major upset, which from my point of view can only happen, of the QB of the Saints has an off-day. Saints win. KAFakofers @ Caplit e salama The division matchup now in the playoffs. The 2 games during the season were won by Caplit e salama, even the games were closer than in recent years. But at home and again as stronger team, KAFakofers playoff run will likely end here. Caplit e salama win. Orono Ancient Snappers @ Leverkusen Leopards My team plays the Snappers for the 3rd time this season, with both games won by the Leopards so far. The 1st win was quite convincing, the 2nd only by 10 points. The Snappers did increase in strength during the season (the RZA strength index is after the wildcard game even HIGHER than that of the Leopards), so expect a close game here. X-Factor is the Leopards QB, who had some off-days in the past 2 seasons and if that happens here again, the Leopards will lose. The rebuild sadly will continue for another year after this disappointing several-game stretch. We came so close in so many games, but close only counts with horse-shoes and hand grenades, so we are going to have a long off-season to work to improve the team all around. Again.  I look forward to a long and heated rivalry between our teams, its more fun when there is a playoff spot on the line

No team was perfect, but the Miners running game was just too dominant to be stopped and the Kicker did add crucial points, while the comeback try of the Habaneros was too late and RZA is not made to overcome such differences in 1 quarter. One of those games, that make the expected winner as then losing team think about quitting. The Saints had a bad day with 3 turnovers (but 2 were in the last quarter on catch up plays) and 3 bad quarters. Main reason for the loss was a bad bad defense performance of the Saints not able to stop the Cobras, while the Saints offense did not really perform. Such odd games happen (I had a good share of those by myself as losing team). KAFakofers @ Caplit e salama The division matchup now in the playoffs. The score of 13:6 does not show how the game really did go. Caplit e salama was way better, but did miss 3 FG tries. Of course that does matter and they did play they way they played, but overall this was from my point of view not that close as it seems. Good game of the Snappers, but my team, especially the runner, did play great and did keep the Snappers on the distance enough to grind the game home. That leaves us with the Conference Championship games: Cottbus Cobras @ Leverkusen Leopards A surprising opponent in the Conference Championship with the Cobras being in the league only since about gameday 14 last season. But they knocked down the Saints and did leave my team as favorite to win the Conference. I will not take this lightly, but the level of strength is still quite different, so I doubt they wil pull another upset. IF they manage to do that, they will play in Elite as heavy, heavy underdog. Leopards win. Ruhrpott Miners @ Caplit e salama A rematch from within the season, which was previously won by the Miners, at home. Now on the road. Both teams will be ready, I think, but the Miners are from my point of view the team to beat here. Caplit e salama can beat them, but here it is not 60/40 or 70/30 picking, it's win or lose picking and in that case I pick ... Miners win. Good luck to all teams in the Championship games. |
