What’s the story with Sea Devils? Was it a project of 1-2 people to recruit ‘human teams’ and get rid of the bots? And when did the project start?
It feels a bit like leaving your old run-down community (other leagues), hearing about this thriving citadel somewhere at the far edge of the desert and finally making it inside the city walls. Arrive, vibrant street markets, energy in the air, good things happening. |

Someone else can explain better... but in my opinion, it is a mixture of things...
We have some people that are always posting stuff on the forums, so that helps the community be alive. Such as Constanta, Sheffield, Foxes, ST Pauli, etc. Also, some 4-5 seasons ago one of us answered questions to a newbie in another division, and kept chatting with them. That newbie became also a very heavy poster in the forums. At the same time, someone else managed to bring 2 that same next season, so that was 3 bots less... and then, that someone went on a rampage and started inviting people... by then we had an even more active forum, and less bots, so it started getting full. And some more people invited people too. So it got quite full. We even had someone leave the league to be able to get to off-season... It is completely understandable, although I'm of the other school of thought: better not qualify and always play humans. I hope whomever leaves Sea Devils to go other places tries to apply what is learnt here and help revitalize that other place!! Sorry for the whole of holes history, as I am under the flu and can't even remember the names of some, and surely I forgot some common posters, etc. Last edited on 2025-09-21 15:49:32 by Brucehum |

It's a long story, and I'm glad to be part of this community. Buz and Marinarul10 brought me here from other games. I wanted to compete against them like I did in other games, and I've been here ever since, happy to have found such a community. I'd like to give special mention to Radu; without him, I would certainly have switched to another league more than once, just to finally get back to the elite.
I also think the hour-long effort to keep the league bot-free is extremely strong, and I thank you for that. It feels like you're in a world of your own. All the stories written here are fantastic. I read everything and often find myself laughing at the stories. |

Yeah, a very long story and I wrote it down but then I accidently clicked somewhere and the whole text was gone.
So here's the short story: First there was Radu. When I joined this region in S51 he made a season prediction, half-season simmary, a friendly cup and the top 3 surprises each week. This is why I call him our captain. Then I came and asked myself "what could I do?". I began with the weekly SDMOTW and restartet the SDHOF. To get something like a sea devils identity I invented those region vs region fridays. This is why Radu calls me our captain. Forum activity produces even more forum activity. If you know that a couple of managers will read your article it's easier to write a better article. You want to write something? Do it! You could be sure that many people will read it finding it great. You have an idea how to make our forum even better? Stabler organizes our Sea Devils Writers Guild. Bastian, your idea "NC Defensive Player of the week" is great. Congratulatians Chad Thurman. Many do just a little bit, and together we create the opposite of a one-man show. Everyone has different strengths and contributes them. I'm already speechless about the result of bad weather on the golf courses around Sheffield on any given weekend next November. second story: In the mid-50s we were about 20 managers in this league. Rurik had a very boring season with 3 bots in his division. I asked some managers in other regions hoping to find one or two to join the NC East. This thing worked better than expected. 8 managers joined our NC. In the following season I did this again and 5 managers joined the AC. Apart from these two advertising campaigns, there haven't been any other major promotions in recent seasons. This region is so great that we don't need any more advertising. |

Yes, this is the short story. The first version was even longer.

Honestly, the Advertising isn't necessary anymore because those who know the game and have been in bot heavy regions gravitate to Sea Devils because it has a reputation of being very Player heavy. As I'm sure several people can attest to. I've been in Monarchs and Fire but when it came time to restart my franchise I came here.

I've stayed here for the community. I reckon I'd have left the game long ago, or at least moved round the divisions.
I still might have a jaunt into other divisions. I dont write any things specifically. I try new things every season. I have a very time consuming job and a very time consuming hobby (golf) but there are times in between where I have hours to burn sat on my own in between transport links where I dust off the old Journalism degree and try a bit of creativity. No doubt as the nights draw in and the weather turns colder the writing will increase. |

I'm afraid Copenhagen Chargers might be going bot... they haven't connected in 10 days, and against us they had no QB.
