To call this offseason tumultuous would be a great understatement or simply being oblivious to what’s going on in the HAMBURG SEA LIONS franchise. Moving to a new league has definitely shaken up some entrenched structures… so much so that even small things like obtaining contract information from a player who had announced to retire provide for some unpleasant surprises.

Sadly that’s what led to one of our greatest players leaving, one who we had drafted in S50 and who was on his way to our Hall of Fame. It was a strange combination of data and the wrong command sent from the wrong key (thanks, Apple ) that led to his early demise. Thank you, Monroe Riera, for your services. We did not want it to end that way and wish you well.

We also wish well every player we left behind in the offseason and want to apologize to Zoran Moreira, who was understandably furious to learn about his end with the team from the press release just prior to the game on Friday… a game he even was on the field for (in warm-ups at least).

But that’s in the past now, and we’re here, in the Sea Devils region. Short of great players, but ready to play ball.

We will be pledging fully to the Mediacenter, that you can be sure of. We’re just waiting for a little longer to see if something truly spectacular will be possible. But besides from that we are happy to be here and looking forward to a lot of great games this season
