Just my expierence on this:
Usually you want a specific setup of coach as replacement, with some values a bit of inside a range, like CB coach with CP = 79, exp min 2* and max 5* and con min 3,5* and max 5* and on top age between 20 and 50 as example.

That kind of coach usually does not come up very now and then.
So waiting until offseason and then kick him or let him retire, is from my point of view a bad move, since then you need to find the replacement instantly.

I always looked for the coach and replaced him, regardless the loss inside that position group. I might lose a crucial game, but I still have my training and the moral and TC do rise fast with each game and maybe you add a players lounge as facility on top.

Thanks for your insight. I'm aware that it might take some time until I find the right coach. I consider winning the games more important than losing a couple of weeks of the training or hiring a coach who's slightly off the ideal though. Therefore I prefer to replace him after I'm not competing anymore. That being said there will be a sequence of 3-4 easier games, so if there's a good enough coach available, I'll hire him.

As far as i understood the manual until today, the skill: Carrying is all about not fumbling the ball.

What i still can not clearly determine is, if CAR also contributes to the yard production on the ground. Meaning: Among other variables, CAR also affects yrds/carry.

Any thoughts?

Thanks and regards

I am not sure but I think it does affect the yardage. Based on the YaC of WR I have a feeling that it helps to achieve more yards not only avoiding fumbles.

A lot of people here act like that is the case as I've seen this claim made many times over the years. People even train WRs in CAR once other skills are maxed.

I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed by Pete, CAR helps all ball carriers break tackles so that includes WRs and TEs.

I would call it "avoids fumbles" and "helps gaining yards on the ground"

POWER MODE.

From the manual:
Friendly Cup
If the decision is to play in Power Mode all skills are set to 40 at game time.
Intelligence and Physical Condition are not affected by this setting.

Live Challenges
In Power mode most skills of the players on field are equal.

Questions
1) which skills are not equal and set to 40?
2) Does EXP affect the skill set to 40? So if EXP=5* skill=40 and if EXP is less the skill is less than 40...
3) Does Coaches still affect the game play ? (skill=40 is before coaching math: factor=((AC CP + 45 + 1000) / 1100) + (rand(-50,50) / 10000) This will result in something like +-5%, if the player is playing his position, on the skills the AC is affecting.

thanks in advance!
cheers pj

1) As it is explicitly decribed the way it is, I think all trainable skills are set to 40, except PC. Means left out are only PC, INT, EXP, TW and likely also MOR.
But that would mean also that SPE, STR and AGI are set to 40.

2) I would guess that after that 'reset' of skill values the engine works as in regular games, so EXP should work.

3) Same here, all ACs and so on do work the same.

This is not a 100% on those, but my understanding.

Thanks for your feedback!
Even my suspicions are going in this directions.
Recently I have played my first power mode game, winning by 49 points... and I am trying to understand why a so huge gap, having more or less the players the same skills. (ok one game doesn't do statistic)
If it where like this EXP has an huge impact assuming EXP 5* = 40 and EXP 0* = 30 (75%)... and coaches as well.

"Get rid of your retiring players until Friday midnight - or keep them until the season ends"

What is the rationale to stick with retirees throughout their last season ("fire this player" after that perticular friday not allowed)?
