Thanks Tullo.

One thing I am seeing on this Mediacenter in Thunder is that some teams are running way too high of salaries that eat up their profits. That is reflected in our ELO being 3rd best in all of the leagues, but being at the very bottom of all the leagues in Mediacenter.

Some of these teams that are in financial trouble need to sell off all all higher salary players and drop back down into Thunder 2 to take advantage of wins there to get income back to a workable level. Same applies to those teams that just have enough income to pay salaries. Thunder as a whole is suffering due to some managers running way to high of salaries that they can't sustain.

I know some people go after younger players more than older players, so does that help control salaries if you sell everyone off over the age of 26 and go after younger players to rebuild while increasing income? (yes, I realize that will drop you into a lot of losses, but we are discussing salaries now) Or would these teams that are in trouble need to go lower on age, or start over with young guys just coming out of the YA or draft?

I hope this discussion can help some of those teams that are in trouble, and continually stay just about the "in trouble" range.

**note...I am not to this point yet, but this discussion will help me down the road since my salaries are eating away at my bank as well.

First of all the very basics of salaries in RZA. At it's very essence it is based on how you manage training. This page shows you how much your player will earn based on skills:

Salaries page from Manual

On this Gsheet I have listed it per level so can you can easily see the differences:
Salary per skill level

I know it is based on the average of his 2 highest skills from those determining the salary directly but for this thought exercise I am simplifying it to one skill.

As you can see, a player with skill 40 will earn $88k. Let him train 2 skill points more (say 2 training updates - 1 week real time) to 42 and his salary rockets by a whopping 41% to $125k!

You can carry a few overtrained players but if you have too many you need to fire them (as no one is likely to buy them). It's not nice, but it's necessary.

If you have well rounded players but they are trained to 45 ($210k salary) it is again achievable for a short amount of time but not with many players like that. Teams making a promotion push do this. But stop in time before money runs out.

This page helps with that: Financial Forecast

I am showing a $74million loss by the end of this season for example but it does not include Mediacenter income (12.5 mill for me). I have enough money for now and I did make steps already to reduce player income and starting phase 2 at end of this season. If I would not do this I would be in trouble next season!

Reacting too late to this and you will be in very big trouble indeed (see Destroyers and them losing their star QB).

Hopefully this is a helpful bit of info for fellow Thunderians!

Thank you for the info. Yes, salaries skyrocket, and I will take a look at the information you provided. That is going to help a lot of us in Thunder.

You are spot on, we don't need to lose star players due to salary mismanagement, so please everyone....take a look at these links.

@Cheesehead, do you know if your Gsheet calcualtions are based of 3 star experience, more, or less? If not no biggie. Its still plenty helpful.

I thought I saw somewhere that talent also impacts salary. But, I don't believe I've ever seen a table or formula for the salary impact of either talent or experience. The only thing that I can recall seeing is this piece from the manual:

With the begin of Season 25, Experience becomes part of the salary calculation as well. A 5 star experienced players wage will be higher by around 20% then.

It is just based on what is says in the manual which is 1.19 increase per skill level. As turnturnturn says above, exp indeed has an impact although I'm not sure what calculation it uses. It warrants even more attention indeed.
