I fear, we are having another victim of the moral calculation based on ELO.

The Ravens lost light night a very close Supercup match against a very competetive opponent. For sure there should be a moral loss for this, but such a big one? I would say the likelyhood of winning was 60:40.

Now their down on moral for their CoC match against the Ducks today and would need a big pot of luck to win it, which would be normally a 50:50 match.

The result would be another moral drop, because of the ELO difference, which would make the deciding game for playoffs or relegation against DC very unlikely to win, but normally it would be 50:50 as well.

I had some thoughts on calculating the moral hits differently some time ago

Are there some other opinions on this topic?

Again, a good way would be to calculate ELO over last 5 seasons.

Also, as Pete mentioned several times, being able to compete in 3 competition must be hard. It is still possible to play relaxed in one or several of those to limit the moral hit.

Now for my game against PJ today, my team has showed this season being able to do the best (DCW, Ravens, Blitz, Bridges, Cats) but also the worst (Werewolves, Chasers second string team). I am the favorite, but despite the Ravens moral loss, I will crap my pants until 9 PM when I will check the final score without having looked at the game.

I do not remember if I have suggested it before but I think the team strength (those percentage shown on the aftermatch stats over pass/run offense and pass/run defense) should also take place on morale hit calculations. I think this is a good way to assign the current situation of a team (a bit better than ELO, but both may be taken on the account).

Easy solutions to this problem does not exist, we must all recognize that.

But if we look at reality ... An NFL team gets demoralized if it loses two games in a row? Or it is believed invincible if it win two games?

Perhaps a team with 16-0 faces the Play-Off's with more morale than one that has finished 7-9, here it could be "rewarded" with a percentage (5-10%) of extra performance in the POs.

Playing four games in five days against teams with overall rate over 82% can lead to a sort of domino effect.
But I do not think I am going to lose because of loss of moral.
Or better I think my team at the moment has other more seriours problems.
My seasons stats are saying my team has very poor performances in passing plays both on offense and defense .
On top of this I am having really a lot of fumbles and this limit also my rushing play.
Last season I did a partial rebuild, this involved my QB and expecially my coaching staff.
I was very lucky to win despite it but at the moment my team behaviour is more near to what I expected.
This is a fee you have to pay when your elo is high because you won before and you face new rising teams that still have 200 point less but are already equal or even stronger than your present team.
This happened to me when I was in their feet so nothing to complain.
If Kanar and Ptodoc win it is because they are great managers like pderekdactyl and lions1934 and not by accident or because my team is suffering a moral deficit, and even if it were because of this they deserve to win anyway.

The manual says the moral hit is less harsh in playoffs. I assume this means SC, CoC, and League playoffs.

When I've looked at team pages after losses, I don't think I've been able to notice a difference compared to regular season losses. I would be in favor of this reduction to moral hit being even more of a reduction than it currently stands for all playoffs.

Manual is correct

I lost 20 points against you -> 80
I recovered +10 on turnover activating Players lounge
Keeping Players lounge active I recovered +3 on Thu.
I played with 93 in SC against lions1934
and losing I had -7 -> 86
Keeping Players lounge active I recovered +3 today -> 89.

Huh. OK. That's helpful.

I thought last season lululba took a bigger hit losing in the SC playoffs than regular season. Maybe I'm not properly factoring in point differential in my head when comparing.
