Covid 19 has been a disaster for me personally.

I started a new 3D printing business in 2019 selling 15mm miniatures for wargamers, mostly world war 2. I was going to wargaming tradeshows to show and sell my products as I built up my name.

2020 was going to be the year where I increased my business and WHAM lockdowns began and the shows being cancelled.

20201 showed signs of hope, but the dithering useless government means shows are still being cancelled as there is no confidence they will be allowed to host them.

My savings are all used up and having to borrow off family members to survive, so unless 2022 looks like being back to normal, i will have to become one of the millions of unemployed that the country has created.

Good job RZA is still working so I can keep my sanity.

I am sorry to hear. I am sure we will see some relaxing of the situation, especially when the crowded countries finish a first stage of vaccination. I hope you can solve the situation for yourself very soon.

Yes...it's been very hard economically on everybody. I had to switch companies (although that was perhaps more to do with offshoring than Covid). Another family member was put on 40% furlough (working 3 days a week for 60% pay). Another was involved in corporate event production - - his business has been on hold for 1+ years with nothing coming any time soon. And a niece and nephew graduated from college last spring and basically there post college job opportunities in their field are almost nil.

Hope things turn around soon...

Right now the "western civilisation" seems to solve the pandemic, kind of, for theirselves. Step by step. At the same time you see the news, and see countries like Brazil, or even more India, to face huge numbers of infections. Those countries do not have the power to solve it. Cannot wait to learn how the society want to solve this.

I know a few Brazilians in the states and they feel that a lot of Brazil's problem is the leadership. Plus poverty and the living densities in the big cities.

However, there is starting to be a growing debate over here about helping out India. I think the US is about a month or so before we start having surplus vaccine (unfortunately, that's because a lot of people wouldn't get the vaccine) - - but how will that be used?

I used to work with a lot of people in India - - and there is a real mix of wealth and poverty and in general medicine is less available and behind North America and Europe.

So today the states is suppose to hit 50% vaccination. That's good and bad. I think we got to 50% pretty quickly, but bad because I don't think many more people are getting vaccinated.

I took my daughter (14 yo - just became approved to get the Pfizer vaccine) in to get her first vaccination shot on Sunday - - absolutely empty. They are taking walk-ins....but nobody is coming in.

Also, the CDC (Center for Disease Control - US government agency) said the chance of catching the virus while outside is really small, so now almost nobody is wearing masks outside anymore.

California is lagging the reset of the nation - - but is planning to officially re-open on June 15th. My company is going to transition to a hybrid model - - 60% in-person work. I think many others are following suit.

There is some push back nationally from people that are enjoying the remote work - - they don't want to go back to the office. Not sure how that will end up...

Me and my wife were able to get our first shot last week. We got lucky as we were in holiday and a brand new vaccination center opened near by. we are part of the population that can only book a shot one day in advance so the « old » centers are fully booked. All adults will be able to book a shot no matter when from next week. So at the end we were only 10 days early.

No major side effect, just a bit tired and a soar arm. I have been very impressed by the organization. I guess the fireman in charge of this center are way more efficient than an an average bureaucrat.

Second dose planed in 4 weeks, I can’t wait.

I believe the vaccination rate will be higher in France than in the US at the end. Antivaxers are fewer here and we will have to prove we got the vaccin to do some stuff. It’s not all well defined yet, but I believe that will be a good thing. It will allow us to go out more safely and it should save lives.

Regarding the CDC statement about not wearing a mask outside, it’s been largely criticized by the epidemiologists community (my wife being part of them). Many thinks it is too early and that we should take caution still. We’ll see how it goes this summer.

Well. It goes bad.

Contaminations increase like crazy in France since a couple of days.

You need now to show a negative test or a vaccination certificate to enter many places such as museum, sport facilities, cinemas, bars, restaurant and the vaccination is becoming compulsory for people working there + medical staff. I would have preferred a general obligation, but that's better than nothing.

Right now the country is very divided on the topic. 60% agree, 40% are against. The debates are passionate and there are lots of tensions at work or in families.

A little bit less of the population is fully vaccinated which is not enough. Fake news are spread widely which does not help.

As in Germany. Means, the same BS arguments are exchanged bye those deniers, just in another language. And when we have to lockdown again, of course it is the governments mistake.

Due to the India 'Delta' variant it has exploded again here in the UK, but thankfully the vaccines have really helped, as despite massive infection levels we're not seeing as many serious cases as during the last peak over Xmas.

My kids both tested positive last month - it's almost certain they caught it at school as they haven't been anywhere else... both my wife and I are fully vaccinated and neither of us caught it.

On the flip side, my boss's 2 nephews are both very ill with it. They are aged 33 and 27 and both ex-army and very fit. 1 of them is currently on a ventilator. Both of them refused to have the vaccine.
