How does the game decide whether to use your pass d or run d formation on a particular play? What is that based on?

Now if that happens the 1st time the DC takes run defense. If the opponent plays run the GC learns 'OK, fits' and let's say leans more to play run defense on that playbook combination. If they play pass, he starts to adapt and starts leaning towards pass defense, but that will take some more plays until that playbook combination will play pass defense. I never did check how many and I never checked what happens if you mix in run between. Likely it's some sort of bucket sort of the last X plays and the DC adapts based on the majority in those buckets. |

I believe it's all plays that get selected by that line. Not the most recent X.
I think of my playbook's pass/run selection as a 1.5 play headstart in the "history". If my defensive playbook is set to be "pass" Play 1: 1.5 pass plays to 0 run plays, pass defense selected. Offense rushes. Play 2: 1.5 pass plays to 1 run play, pass defense selected. Offense rushes. Play 3: 1.5 pass plays to 2 run plays, run defense selected. Offense passes. Play 4: 2.5 pass plays to 2 run plays, pass defense selected. Offense passes. And so on |
