Draftees are currently mostly lower in their training level than youth academy players. It would be a very useful feature to be able to send your draftees into the youth academy, if they still have the age.
If you buy a draftee, he will also go into the academy. Perhaps this could be combined with premium youth academy to make it even more interesting. |

Well, that's why young draftees on the TM are such high value! The highest amounts go for either random awesome FAs or 19 year old draftees who are sold instantly.

I now this was shot down, but just to document this, I think it is stupid, that a manager has to sell his drafty to buy another one to put him into the YA.
I have the situation right now, the guy I got in 1st round could be made into a good player, if I could put him into the YA, but now I have to sell him and have to look for a substitution on the TM to eventually having the good player I need. |

Ok, so we could let him into the ya, but would limit the progress he can made, by asking for the same salary he received as a senior player. This would not solve anything, true?

At least in Elite where a draftee isn't likely to get much playing time, a player in a premium YA will get EXP faster. And if you want to reposition a player, those YA points make a big difference.

I think the mechnics of the YA should stay, but I agree you could change the status of the YA player, saying a draft player gets money, also in YA, if he gets repositioned from senior team to youth acadamy, regardless whether he was bought from another team or inside the same team. If he is bought from players pool, the player gets no money. |

I can not recall if I express my opinion on this topic in the past. I strongly lean on Pete side. I like the idea to have several separated ways to build your roster. A good manager, even in Elite can often manage to turn two out of three draftees into starters or back-ups. By adding the draftees in the YA, I think you remove the value of the drafting skills.
As ChoadW said, draftees also feed the TM and I like that. It must be hard to build a great team. Many decisions already made it easier. I would not add another. Last edited on 2021-05-06 10:43:23 by Kanar |

From my point of view the hard part should be how to maintain a team, not how to build it.
And the rule, which exists since the start, just doesn't make much sense. Sure it's a rule and fine, but it's also just stupid that you have to sell a good prospect, because you can't train him in the YA, while buying a prospect grants you the option to train him in the YA. |
