For myself I am checking age first. All further decisions are made in the group of the youngest available players then...

That's a nice guide.

I do at almost the same as decribed, but I also take agility into the sum of physicals.

Why? because most positions do benefit from agility and at the end of the day you have to train it, so the higher it is at the beginning the better.
But if speed/strength are much higher and agility is low, now problem, then they cap earlier from the time frame point of view and I can train agility then.
So i sum it up and then I look for age and TW.

And remember, If you have an AC at that players position you even get a small bonus at the beginning.

I'm pretty sure a LB AC will cover both Speed & Strength. At least that's what someone said in a thread earlier.

Things like this should be stickied somewhere for noobs to find. It can help a helluva lot yet there is noway of finding it out really.

I thought of the same. We need a stickied threat where all managers share their experience on what are the favored player's skills of the different AC.

To be honest ... the OP is pretty much stating the obvious -

TBH I put it in the rookie section for new players. So of course it will state the obvious for established players. lol

The first 2 things I look at are teamwork and age. Most physical skills are pretty much the same all over.

A 16 year old player with 40+ teamwork will get a starter easy if you're in 1 or 2 seasons, only needs few extra YA training points.
The older they get the weigth factor to all ready excisting skills and teamwork rise.
You should always look for a player you could sell or use as a player in your DC. Meaning iff you have no good choice pull the 1 with the highest physical skills(hope for a special trait*) and try to sell him or eventually fire the player to save spots.

A few questions:
- From the manual: "Each AC affects the training of those players he is responsible for coaching (defined by the players' position!). ". Does this also count for YA?

- Does this mean you get extra traning points on specific skills when a player has a position responsable by an AC?

- Will a player get extra non-physical skills if they have a position responsable by an AC when you pull them?

*
I've had 2 youth pulls with a special trait so far, both had an above average agility and a relative high speed and strength. Did any of you have the same experience? Maybe even more if an AC is responsable for his position.

High TW high INT - both for LB/TE

A player with TW < 35 doesn't get a look from me. If the speed/strength was high, especially speed, then maybe, but it'd have to be very good. If they don'y cap high on speed then they were a waste so it's always a gamble, especially if INT was also low.

I also value INT highly for SFs and don't even like the idea of a CB with too low INT.

I basically have groups based on age so if a player looks ok, but I already have plenty of good ones in that age group, then I go for someone else.

Just reading topics and this is good information.I agree with what the quote is showing make a topic where more experience memebers(players) can post information such as above.A topic can be open and locked to keep only the most important information for newbs to read!
A newbe corner???

As you only have space for 22 players in your youth academy I find that I am extremely picky about who I keep and who I dump in my YA.

Remember that this is a long term plan though and to get the greatest benefits will take several seasons

Ok good guide but what about experience?
Full YA gives experience boost but how much?
I've got some good ex-youth players that have progressed to my senior squad but with very low exp and they're not as good as my starters so less game time means they will gain exp very very slowly.
If a 16 yr old joins a full YA at start of a season with 0.5 exp how much exp (on avg/in general) will he have at 20 when he bumps up at end of that final season?
